The entry of SARSILMAZ and CANIK into the US market caused the bankruptcy of some world-famous arms manufacturers/factories (Remington, SigSauer-Germany etc). For example, although the SAR 9X could not reach high sales figures in Turkiye, it made a great impression in the USA. CANIK TP9 SUB Elite CAS has also become a world famous thanks to its success in the USA.

SARSILMAZ, CANİK(Samsun Yurt Savunma), GİRSAN, TİSAŞ, Ata Arms, Akdaş etc. are reshaping the market with the understanding of high quality in military standards and low price they brought to the civilian market. They serve with a wide product catalog on Pistols, Shotguns, Rifles... There are companies with a history of 120, 150 years among them, and get them accepted their unique and successful works on the international civilian market as new standards.

Why is the US importing so many firearms anyway? The country itself has a lot of top notch producers. Isn't the local production enough to cover the market? @Hamartia Antidote

And since when is Turkey a specialist in firearms? I didn't know that! @Zarvan @dBSPL

Because they are a pretty good price.

While that is possible the more likely answer is the courts are now bulls-eyeing them with potential high lawsuit judgements to break them like they did with "big tobacco".

Sig Saur wenk bankrupt is news to me. I doubt it is true. Sig is considered a premium brand, equal or better than Glock in quality.

One of my favorite gun producers too. But Sig Sauer shuts down the Germany operation. Production continues only in the USA.

Yes, recent developments in the USA point to some possible changes in armament laws.

Almost all of the arms manufacturers mentioned in the news and rapidly increasing their share in the US market are from the Eastern Black Sea region; Samsun, Giresun, Trabzon. It is a result of the Eastern Black Sea Region's tradition of using and producing arms. Especially in Trabzon, every house is like an ammunition store. If a gunshot breaks the silence of the night, dozens of houses responding immediately. lol

If you didn't know a large percentage of the world's shotguns are produced in turkey, almost every shotgun in American stores under $1000 was made in turkey (even if it has a European or American label).

Turkey is also a major player in the Rifle market https://ermox.com.tr/en/news/general/turkey-is-the-second-after-italy
And of course everyone's already covered the success of Canık in the American market. Canık, Taurus and Palmetto state armoury tend to make the cheapest pistols that aren't total garbage.

As for why the US imports guns, it's cheaper even with American laws trying to make it more expensive (like the 18 USC section 922R which forces importers of rifles and shotguns to have a certain amount of American made parts).
