In early December, Swiss specialist Global Clearance Solutions (GCS) released the GCS-100, a remote-controlled EOD platform that the company claims is the most versatile, compact and easy-to-use on the market.
It has been designed specifically to meet the requirements of security and military customers as well as humanitarian organisations, tailored to C-IED route and runway clearance as well as generic UXO tasks and mechanical clearance of anti-personnel mines. Like other members of the GCS family, the GCS-100 addresses an increasing demand for location agnostic multi-purpose usability.
GCS has combined the field-proven reliability of previous platforms and attachments such as the manipulator arm and tiller with a completely new proposition – custom on-demand attachments and front-end tools.
Crucial quality components like the electronic units, the camera system, the exhaust pipe and the lifting lugs, which are exposed in competitors’ platforms, are now securely attached or integrated beneath the outer shell. A new cooling system, completely redesigned, ensures a faster and more effective cooling of the engine as well as greater longevity of all components. The GCS-100 also offers improved weight distribution and wing-style doors for fast, rapid access to all components. The system is easy to move to and from the working area, using a standard 4x4 pickup truck or in fixed- or rotary-wing aircraft.
