Mumbai-Ahmedabad bullet train may soon become reality

Isn't that obvious?

The reason why US HSR projects are essentially Korean vs Japanese only duel(No Chinese bidder wanted) is because they depend on foreign government financing, and it is expected that the train system of the financing country will be used in return.
 
Then why does business class cost more at 1,400 ~ 1,575 yuan after the cut.
long distance. the distance of beijing - shenzhen = finland - eygpt.

business class = first class, 1500 yuen is fair. [200 us dollar ]

second class = 700 yuen [100 us dollar ]

short - middle distance = 28 - 150 yuen

e.g nanijing - shanghai = 55 yuen only

eg. suzhou - shanghai = 32 yuen only
 
AFAIK, Kerala HSR has nothing to do with Indian Railway. Its a separate project..but I rather have this money invested in expressway with a narrow gauge tram/metro in between. But I heard from TV that the Japanese will only give us money if we build HSR that too with Japanese technology.


HSR is part of the Indian railway vision 2020.

3. Increasing the current train speeds to 150-180kms
4. Dedicated freight corridor in some regions including converting some of the existing lines.
5. Modernize signal mechanisms

These are some of the points. The total budget is around 14,00,000 crore rs(around $300 billion dollars) - the funding is through the public-private partnership.
 
UK will utilize French, German, or Japanese HSR technology, of course.

French or German most likely because Japanese don't have the European crash regulation compliant bullet train models, yet. In Asia, only Korea has Euro crash regulation compliant bullet trains(The legacy of Alstom tech transfer in the 90s), but Koreans are focusing their efforts in the Americas(the US and Brazil) and Russia for the time being.

The French guy claimed that the UK has HSR technology. Of course European systems will be considered first, but with a tigh budget and high debt right now in the UK, Chinese HSR system should also considered and maybe Siemens and Alstom would lower their price if they face stiff competition. Korea has no chance because the French would be anything but amused about Korean competition.

Chinese cannot supply UK regulation compliant train sets, and Kawasaki lawyers will be ready with a lawsuit even if Chinese somehow obtain the crash regulation waiver(Which they won't).

The French got run over by Koreans in Russia. It's a Siemens vs Samsung showdown in Russia.

Feb. 10 (Bloomberg) -- Siemens AG and Samsung C&T Corp. are among the European and Asian companies that may vie to build and operate a $21 billion rail link between Moscow and St. Petersburg before the 2018 World Cup soccer tournament.

Alstom SA, Bouygues SA of France, Italy’s Finmeccanica SpA and UniCredit SpA and a unit of South Korea’s Hyundai have also expressed interest in the high-speed link, said Yelena Shebunina, deputy head of OAO High-Speed Rail Lines, in an interview in Moscow. A Portuguese group led by Brazil’s Grupo Andrade Gutierrez SA expressed interest last week, she said.
Siemens is disadvantaged because it has to rely on private financing, while the Korean bid is backed by the government financing. Chinese used to be considered for the track construction part only, but was dropped after the Wenzhou crash.
 
State requests ‘bullet train’ from Mumbai to Nagpur
MUMBAI: The state government has asked the railways to consider providing connectivity to the proposed Navi Mumbai international airport through the Mumbai-Ahmedabad high-speed rail corridor. It has also suggested that a similar high-speed project be contemplated between Mumbai and Nagpur.

Chief minister Prithviraj Chavan made the two recommendations to railway board chairman Vinay Mittal on Saturday. The railways have been asked to make presentations on both the Mumbai-Ahmedabad project and the suggested Mumbai-Nagpur corridor, a source said.

A pre-feasibility report on the 497-km Mumbai-Ahmedabad high-speed rail corridor—which is estimated to cost Rs 60,000 crore—is already complete. Touted as the most technologically advanced rail project in the country, the corridor will reduce the travel time between the two state capitals from seven hours (as currently taken by Duronto Express) to two and a half hours.

Officials pointed out that the major portion of the corridor, as planned so far, will pass through Gujarat. The state government wants the corridor to provide connectivity to the proposed international airport in Navi Mumbai as well as perhaps Wadala to ensure that Maharashtra too gets maximum benefit from the project. Meanwhile, a high-speed rail corridor between Mumbai and Nagpur was suggested during the Saturday meeting to boost Nagpur's growth, officials said.

Eager to fast-track the Mumbai-Ahmedabad corridor, the Centre recently set up the High Speed Rail Corporation of India (HSRC). A subsidiary of Rail Vikas Nigam Ltd, HSRC will conduct project-related studies, draw up technical standards, and additionally help the government finalize financial and implementation models.

China should not bid for this project. Let the indians remain backward. We all know how nasty indian train rides are. :)
