dude first of all, india cant sustain high growth anymore if it doesnt build like china, we have to build, build and build infra to keep growing and this is very imp. moreover i dont think hsr will be a loss to the nation. it will pay off.

England and HSR technology? This just shows how clueless you are.

China expresses wish to build UK's high-speed rail link - Telegraph

Wishing and actually doing it are too different things.

UK has a train crash safety regulation that the Chinese are unable to meet. The Japanese struggled with the Javelin train as Japan had no train crash regulation either, and the base train model for the Hitachi Javelin couldn't meet the UK crash regulation. Accordingly, Hitachi changed the structure from aluminium to stainless steel, which increased the weight 50% and affected the train's performance and stability. And the Javelin was intended to go up to only 150 mph, not a true bullet train.

The best Chinese can do is to put down the money for construction, but the equipment must be European, or at least non-Chinese.

build, build, build..... but where is the money, you want us to be nation in debt, any thing that is happening in INDIA is happening in a slow phase and is in a sustainable manner, we are not in a rat race with CHINA, trying to compete with CHINA because its growing fast is a stupid as$ idea. let them go in thier own phase and we in ours. we both are nuclear nations and there is no question of a war between the two and there is ample space and time for both to decide on how future formulas of mutual trust and economic co-orperation can work.
if you are so against CHINA, tell me is there any electronic item that is not manufacture and exported world over.
We both are two different nations, with two different ideas and we need not cross road on each others idea.

kk i agree with what u said. by build build build i meant that we have to keep expanding infra to sustain high growth. this is expant production of steel and everything that helps boost economy. pace should alse be maintained depending on how much india can handle. we certainly cant build as fast as china.

Right, that's why the UK had some of the most horrible train accidents in the world in the last decade. Mind to tell me which UK company has HSR technology in action?

my idea is to set right things in its present form man, bullet trains if they come up will only serve the few millionries in the nation, but if the existing INDIAN railways it set right it will serve the nation as a whole.
beisdes there are a lot of things that need to be put in the right path starting from illegal minning, deforestation to corruption, etc. Lets clean the house first before we think about renovating it

with due respect
1st point- I think we should go for high speed rails coz' the country's elite people will love to travel in it which will in turn decrease pressure on conventional trains & flights and many middle class and low income families can book more easily available tickets and won't have to make long queues for getting tatkal tickets in normal trains and pay heavily....
2nd point-China can't be compared to india as they are communist countries with one high authority and can develop much faster due to faster passing of bills unlike democratic countries like india in which decision taking is a slow process but we enjoy our freedom openly and much better than chinese people who are slaves of their govt.....we are proud to be the secular, multilingual, largest democratic republic of INDIA!!

Are you serious man, do you know how much percentage of the INDIAN population comes under the category of Millionares, and do you want to build a system so costly not only at implementation phase but also in the maintanance phase.
INDIA is not for the wimps and wishes of some random guy like you (so selfish) who do not care for the people in need of improvement in life.

UK will utilize French, German, or Japanese HSR technology, of course.

French or German most likely because Japanese don't have the European crash regulation compliant bullet train models, yet. In Asia, only Korea has Euro crash regulation compliant bullet trains(The legacy of Alstom tech transfer in the 90s), but Koreans are focusing their efforts in the Americas(the US and Brazil) and Russia for the time being.

We both are two different nations, with two different ideas and we need not cross road on each others idea.

Indian government is planning to go in for a public-private partnership for the HSR. It will be a design-build-operate-transfer mode where the private parties will invest, operate for sometime and transfer the operations to the government later on. Similar to what we have today in highway toll roads.

We do not compete with China. But inorder for us to sustain the growth we need to increase our spending in the infrastructure from 6% to 10%. We do not have the money so the best approach for us is the build-operate method where the nation will not be in debt as you fear.

This will result in high ticket prices.

In Korea, a bullet train trip of 450 km on government funded railway cost $45(and the operator turns a profit), but a similar trip in Brazil on Korean constructed bullet train would cost $200 because of the private financing and the eventual handover of railway to the Brazilian government.

and for the private companies to come and play this role, numerous farmers will loose their land for the private owners to get filt$y rich. First set right things that are already there my friend.
The Indian Railways should be a asset generating profit to the government, because of bad governance the organization is a liability to the Indian Government looking up for its operation to go smoothly. Set the existing railways in proper shape before you think about going for Bullet Trains. If you are so much fancy about travelling in a bullet train, I sugest that you take a famiy vacation to the Europe and pay for a nice fancy bullet train experiance.
I am a man who speeks of ground reality, have you ever thought about the people bellow you in economic sence, do you know how many are there strugling to make a square meal a day. think about them, ask what the government can do to elivate this condition in our country before venturing into these fancy machise which do not serve the common mans need in our nation,

It will be initially but I am not sure there is other way for the government as it does not have that kind of money at hand and have to invest $1 trillion in the next few years on infrastructure.
