Angola Press - África - Índia oferece helicóptero à Polícia maurícia

English translation using Google translator -

Plaisance, Mauritius - India has offered a type of helicopter HAL Dhruv forces Mauritian Police, as part of its aid program to strengthen the protection and safety of the island.

The Mauritian Prime Minister, Navin Ramgoolam, said the helicopter, which has two engines, a capacity of 14 passengers and cargo of 1.5 tons, could reach most of the islands of Mauritius without refueling.

"It will be useful for rescue and search missions of medical evacuation operations, the fight against drugs and piracy. It can also be used for helicopter armed robbery. He will also be vital in monitoring the Zone
Exclusive Economic Zone of the island, particularly in the fight against maritime piracy to which we currently face in the Indian Ocean region, "he said.

He said that Mauritius needs a police force equipped to meet the new challenges of security.

"The process of modernization of the police will intensify. We can not use methods of the nineteenth century to solve problems of the twentieth century. Therefore we introduce new technologies such as DNA technology and CCTV system. The modernization of the police radio communication is also underway, "he explained.

It is now almost certain that the HAL Dhruv crashed in Ecuador due to pilot error and not mechanical failure. HAL Dhruvs remain the best and the most popular in their class.

Great going HAL!

Diamond Pilots: Mauritius Police Force Acquires Dhruv Helicopter

"About 3 weeks ago we learned the passing away of one of our Police Force Air Squad pilot DASP Subodh Caussy. Well he was among the only 3 pilots of Mauritius to have been trained for the new acquired helicopter of the Mauritius Police Force, Dhruv.

Well this post is dedicated to the guy firstly. Now coming to the helicopter, some brief specifications about it:

Manufactured: Hindustan Aeronautics Limited
Country: India
Max Distance per Mission: 660 KM
Max Speed: 270 Km/h
Motors: 2
Capacity: Upto 14 persons
Before the arrival of Dhruv, the Mauritian Police Force had only 5 military helicopters. Well people in other countries reading this must be finding this funny right now. In fact Mauritius does not have a military branch. The SMF (Special Mobile Force) as its name says is only a special squad of the police force for military-like interventions but they are not real combat soldiers.

So right now we have 6 military helicopters which are mostly used for rescue operations and also for monitoring the country air space and seas."

That chopper crashed and still did not catch fire, the pilots escaped with minor scrapes and bruises. That it self tells a lot about the quality of the Chopper.

It was pilot induced error for certain. Ecuador reinstated the choppers to be flying fit.

Why dont our police not buying it? or any state police using it?

I feel each state police at least need 2-3 armed Dhruv

This helicopter is offered as a donation and Mauritus cannot refuse a donation even through a credit interest free line. If Mauritius was to buy a true quality helicopter, it would have make an international bid just like India for the procurement of 200 western aircraft. Through an International bid the Dhruv would have never been selected given its bad reputation when even the Indian Army had refused this fake helicopter and prefers to procure other types of US and Russian chops like the Chinook. The Dhruv aslo contain much Israel and US technological supports.:rofl::rofl::tdown::tdown::tdown:
