Taiwan leader Ma Ying-jeou said he would try to meet with
President Xi Jinping in the fall next year to push for a historical
breakthrough in the relationship between Taiwan and the
Chinese mainland, the Hong Kong-based Yazhou Zhoukan
reported Wednesday.
Ma said that he will try to go to Beijing, where the 2014 APEC
Summit will be held, and would like to take the trip as an
opportunity to meet with President Xi.
However, Ma pointed out that a public vote will be needed if the
two sides want to sign a peace agreement.
Fan Liqing, spokeswoman for the Taiwan Affairs Office of the
State Council, said earlier that the two sides should arrange
meetings between their leaders independently, rather than
piggy-backing on international occasions.

It is the time to disband the ROC military and to stop being cozy with USA.

Then both side can negociate the one country two systems policy.

Pussy Ma is trying to meet Xi as an equal in APEC forum. He is simply attempting to raise his declining profile and create the image that Taiwan's government is mainland's equal.

Xi should give him the cold shoulder.

As a Taiwanese, I hope such meeting will never happened.

It's time for US and DPP to use Taiwan's media control to scold and mock Ma Yingjeou. To give a pressure to abandon such lunatic idea.

Only the DPP can do right things for tawan, it seems.

Eh, it is largely irrelevant. How Mainland and Taiwan relationship will unfold mainly depends on the power balance between China and US. Ma's visit won't really have any real effect. (Unless this is about Taiwan's economy and he is here to beg more money from mainland.)
