LNG power plants of 3600 MW are being constructed near load centers and not ports because:
1. Load centers such as Lahore, Gujranwala, Faisalabad, Sialkot and Multan are located in the region where 50% of power is consumed.
2.Transmission infrastructure is already available.
3.Constructing these power plants at the ports would have caused higher transmission losses & HVDC line from port to upcountry would have needed around $2 billion.
