Estonia reduces reliance on Russian gas through importing of Lithuanian supplies
Lithuania is to start supplying Estonia with natural gas from next month, reducing their reliance on Russian supplies. That's according to the Lithuania Tribune, which says Litgas expects to export around 30 million cubic metres of gas to its Baltic neighbour in 2015.
Last year, Lithuanian President Dalia Grybauskaite said Baltic reliance on "Russian gas poses an existential threat."
The natural gas will be piped to Estonia through fellow former Soviet state Latvia. In 2012, Estonia bought 700 million cubic metres of gas from Russia.
