Archers confirm silver for Bangladesh

Roksana Akter, Shamoli Ray, and Puspita Zaman confirmed a silver medal for Bangladesh as they reached the compound women's team event final of the fifth Islamic Solidarity Games archery competition in Konya, Turkey on Monday.
In the final on Wednesday, Roksana, Shamoli, and Puspita will play against the Turkey team comprised of Bostan Ucar Yesim, Suzer Ayse Bera, and Yildir Sevim.
In the qualification round on Monday, Roksana (682 points), Shamoli (680 points) and Puspita (672 points) aggregated a total of 2,034 points to secure a place in the final.
Roksana and Shamoli also reached the quarter-finals of the compound women's individual event after they both got bye in the pre-quarter-final.
Puspita will play the compound women's individual event pre-quarterfinal against Malaysia's Halim Nur Aina Yasmine today.
Meanwhile, all the three recurve men's individual campaigners — Ruman Shana, Hakim Ahmed Rubel and Sagor Islam — of Bangladesh advanced to the second round of the knock-out stage on Monday.
In the knock-out stage first round, Shana and Rubel got bye while Sagor beat Rashad Khalid of Sudan by 6-0 set points.
Eleventh-seeded Shana will face 22-seeded Franck Eyeni of Ivory Coast while 10-seeded Rubel will take on 23-seeded Abdullah Taha of Kuwait, 16-seeded Sagor will take on 17-seeded Sadegh Ashrafi of Iran in the second round games today.
In the qualification round, Rubel scored 645 points while Shana 644 points and Sagor 629 points for their respective seeding which also helped them reach the round of 16 in the recurve men's team event.
Shana, Rubel and Sagor aggregated a total of 1,918 points to place fifth and will play against 12th placed Sudan team comprised of Mujahid Adam, Faisal Mahmoud and Khalid Rashad in the round of 16 on August 17.
