Jinnah of Modern India

He may be Jinnah of India but majority of his followers are uneducated fools and Rikshawalas and should be beaten at will along with owaisi.

Other than the typical Islamphobe rant.. nothing worth discussing in this article and any attempts to post inflaming comments will prove detrimental to the future of the poster on this forum.

Majority of the views and opinions about Mr.Jinnah comes out of mere ignorance which outrightly rejects his contribution in Indian politics between the years of 1915 to 1940. Started as a liberal nationalist and a moderate, Jinnah’s performance, not necessarily as a popular, public figure but as an arbiter of the perennial problems that troubled the leaders of organised national struggles in India, surpasses any of his contemporaries. Since its inception, while front bench leaders of Indian national congress (Except few like Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose and Chittaranjan Das) shied away from addressing the growing ‘Muslim cause’ started by the educated elite in Muslim society in the first quarter of 20th century, Mr.Jinnah never failed to act as an mediator between the Congress, a part of which was conspicuously Hindu Mahasabha sympathizer, and the radical faction within the league, endangering his political career more than often.

In 1906, he opposed the demand of Muslim league delegation for a separate electorate to Lord Minto, and later agreed to it only as a necessary and temporary evil. Much has not been known among Indian members here about his effort for an amendment which was to allow non-Muslim candidates on Muslim seats. His principle argument was candidates with quality must not be deprived of just because of their faith. So, when the politicians like Owaisis vociferously howl for Muslim reservations, they do not much sound like Mr.Jinnah.

In 1912, as a legislator, Jinnah’s emphatic support for special marriage amendment bill which was to provide mixed religion marriages legal protection alienated him from his colleagues within the ML. The history behind the Lucknow pact (1915), Delhi Muslim proposal (1927) are the least discussed chapters by general Indian enthusiasts of their freedom history and the principle argument against Jinnah often starts from the 40’s when the plan of partitioning India’s North west was already a subject of vigorous consideration in London. The Hindu Mahasabha and Hindu Punjabi feudal causes in East Punjab often go unnoticed when discussions about Indian partitions take place. Off course Jinnah's career, like every politician was not free of flaws, but before we delve into those above spheres, comparing Owaisi with a character like Mr.Jinnah crosses all limits of absurdity and farcicality.

Owaisi should demand independence for Hyderabad Deccan. Then he will be in league with Jinnah though I admit some of his policies are assimilar to Jinnahs ideals, for example reserved seats for muslims in parliament and other similar demands.

Quota should be based on financial condition not religion, we need to end this religious differentiation.

Jinnah was a man of vision,

He could NOT foresee that Patel would DIVIDE Punjab and Bengal

He raised the stakes so high that in the end ; there was NO TRUST left

Today People like AYESHA JALAL and Yaseer Latif Hamdani ( Eminent Pakistani writers)
blame India for NOT accepting Cabinet Mission plan which was ACCEPTABLE to Jinnah

If it was not for the failed Cabinet Mission, thanks to Gandhi ji and Nehru Saheb, we were still together. If India was parted, it parted because of Congress's rigid position on Cabinet Missions proposals that were accepted by Quid-e-Azam but rejected by Gandhi Ji and Nehru Saheb.

India's problem with equally representing all religions through the force of reservation is going to be a losing battle. It reminds me of solving the racial problems in USA.
-Do you force blacks to be a certain amount of the work force? But what if they are not skilled enough?
-should we allow only skilled black people to get a quota? But if they are skilled enough, why do they need a quota?
- if they are already skilled and have been denied their right to work then all we need is to get a "right for equal opportunity" clause..

And thats all I think you need - merit an ability should be blind to your beliefs. A hindu engineer is every bit a muslim engineer - why should there be preferential treatment to anyone?

People continue to make the mistake of comparing Jinnah and Owaisi as personalities and men.

That is simply not what is being discussed.

Its their position within their respective times and populaces and the impact. One needs to be either blind or not an Indian to not see the similarities.

A resurgent Hindu right. An insecure and uncertain Muslim populace fearful for the future. An outspoken and charismatic Muslim leader rallying his forces around the flag.

Remember that Owaisi is a lot younger than Jinnah. He has time on his side.
