Is China's Xinhua the Future of Journalism? - Newsweek

Don't mind him. He's just looking for attention.

Ha ha ha... and now that you have cracked your smart joke of the day, shall we get back to the discussion. For all your concerns about trolling, you seem to be turning into one yourself. Attention or no attention, lets get back to the discussion shall we.

We shall. Before we do that, however, I would want to know if Cardsharp tried to start inflammatory threads on Indian Defence before.

I think your accusation that non of our "Chinese friends" are contesting the facts presented by newsweek is a bit unfair.

Ok lets see. What do you have to say about the fact that Xinhua is an official part of the CPC and enjoys monopoly over official news? Does this not raise doubts over its neutrality & credibility? This is fact that was stated by the article & no one commented on it.

The fact is that while Xinhua is the official news paper of the CPC it is by no means the only news network in China and therefore enjoys no monopoly. I thought that was already discussed by several posters on this thread.

China should report news objectively. (of course a little bias towards the government is always expected.) We should not resort to word play and lose our credibility.

I don't think Western Media are less biased than Xinhua. anyone who read xinhua and western media routinely will necessarily come the conclusion that Xinhua is much more neutral when it comes to international news.

You still haven't answered my question on whether Cardsharp posts inflammatory material on India Defence yet.

What do you mean inflammatory? What does CardSharp or any of his posting have to do with this article? That is a rather surprising line to take?

I just came across a interesting article & wanted to know what the Chinese members think about it? Since when did posting articles & trying to understand thought processes, attitudes & sentiments about the topic by encouraging a discussion become an affront or inflammation!!?? Its a rather strange attitude that you seem to be having.

For i was of the understanding that the very purpose of this forum was to discuss & understand perspectives first hand since so much exposure with people of other nationalities is not possible in the normal course. But since when this become, you scratch my back and will scratch yours!!?

Told you not to bother ;) Where did you say you that spray can again?

He's not here for intelligent give/take debate, his article is here to point the finger and establish his superiority

The article clearly states that Xinhua enjoys a monopoly on official news & not over all the news. Can you produce evidence to counter that claim?

I prefer you using the "troll begone" since the mod on Sinodefence told me that the effects are more permanent.

If there is going to be a Chinese mod here one day, it's gotta be you.

You are probably 10,000 x better natured than I am (not implying I would be right for/want to be a mod otherwise). I guess those extra 4 (correction 3 yay) year of life has made me jaded and cranky ;)

Really depends on how long I stay here lol.

Southern Weekly - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Here is an excerpt from Southern_Weekly:

Its editors cover stories that the authorities don't want played up, harming societal harmony, while its columnists perennially push for a rapid increase in democracy, civil society, and freedom of expression despite their possible incompatibility with Chinese-style socialism.

Guess the CCP needs to fire those incompetent censor people

 What a typical Indian hypocrite! I'm sure your beloved yellow media will be any thing better:no:
I wonder will you still insisting your so-called high moral ground if someone post an article regarding 650 millions toiletless Indians, extreme poverty, child sexual abuse, Dehli, ra@e capital etc.?:D
Please perform your double standard high moral open def.... somewhere else, it st!nk like h...:hang2:

The first two papers are from Hong Kong. I am sure that you are aware that quiet a few mainland rules don't apply there & the same goes for the media too, Falun Gong is not banned there for instance.

As for China Morning Post it might be liberal & all that, but that is not "official news". Show me a paper from the mainland that writes articles about the top members of the CPC and reports on "official news".

You links prove nothing.

well mate, you forgot add - farmer suicides, child malnutrition & a few other favored troll phrases. but in the excitement to troll such momentary laps of trolling ability is understandable.
