QUETTA: A Frontier Corps (FC) soldier was killed and three others were critically wounded by unprovoked firing by Iranian border guards inside Pakistani territory in Tehsil Mand area – a town bordering Pakistan with Iran.

“A soldier embraced martyrdom and three other personnel were wounded,” a spokesperson said in a statement issued on Friday evening.

“The FC personnel were chasing miscreants when they came under attack by Iranian forces. It was a targeted attack on Pakistani forces,” the spokesperson added. One FC vehicle was completely destroyed due to intense firing by Iranian forces.

Iranian border guards continued firing for six hours. However, Pakistani forces did not retaliate to the offensive of the neighbouring country.

“It is a clear border violation and [against] international law. It is also against the Pak-Iran border agreement,” the spokesperson said. “The firing started on late Thursday night and continued on Friday,” he added.

The spokesperson further said Iranian border guards on Friday trespassed two kilometers inside Pakistani territory in Nokundi area of Chagai district in Balochistan and harassed residents of the area.

Iranian forces raided the house of a suspected Lashkar-e-Ahb militant in Ghaus Baksh Notezai in a village in the Chagai district and took away a vehicle and some items.

“The Iranian forces had taken away a vehicle and other [items] from the house,” an FC spokesperson said.

Inspector General Frontier Corps (FC) Ejaz Shahid said Pakistani forces will answer any Iranian attack in the future.
“Pakistani forces will respond to Iranian forces in the future if they invade or carry out any attack on Pakistani territory,” he said.

I am glad the IGFC (a Major General deputed from the Pakistani Army) commented as he did. The Iranians need to clamp down on their soldiers who appear to quite obviously lack the training and discipline required by professional soldiers deployed on an international border, and differentiate between Pakistani FC paramilitary forces involved in chasing criminals and criminals themselves.

The Iranians also need to stop whining about Pakistan securing the border - the Iranians have plenty of troops and resources to secure the border from their side, and if they can't somehow do so, then they need to explain what specifically they expect Pakistan to do.

in other words it might be called " Incompetency " shown by our forces

QUETTA: Iranian border guards attacked a vehicle of Frontier Corps, a para-military force, inside Pakistani territory killing one personnel and injured another three on Friday morning.

Khan Wasey, the Spokesman FC told Dawn.com that Iranian border guards have been violating Pakistani territory since the past two days. He said the FC's vehicle was also damaged during the attack.

The injured personnel were rushed to Quetta for medical treatment.

Wasey said that Iranian border guards entered inside Pakistani territory and attacked the FC vehicle in Mand Tehsil of Balochistan's Kech district.

In another incident, Wasey said 30 Iranian border guards entered into Pakistan's town of Nokundi which borders Iran and made the residents of a nearby village hostage for six hours.

"They subjected the residents to physiological torture and then left," he said.

Inspector General Frontier Corps, Major General Ejaz Shahid, strongly condemned the infiltration of Iranian guards and vowed to defend the border in the case of future violation.

Additional FC personnel were called in the area to avoid occurrence of another untoward incident and overall security was tightened at the porous 900km border between the two countries.

FC and Home and Tribal Affairs Department Balochistan have informed the Foreign Office with regard to recent violations by Iranian border guards, an officer of the Home Department, who declined to be named told Dawn.com.

Within next few days a formal protest is going to be lodged with Iranian high-ranking officials, he added.

Panic prevailed in Pakistan border towns in the aftermath of Iranian infiltration in the area and their continued attacks.

Iran issued a veiled threat to Pakistan on Thursday that it might cross the border to contain terrorists if Pakistan fails protect its border and stop terrorists from entering into Iran, Iranian state mediareported.

Second-in-command of the Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC), Brigadier General Hossein Salami on Thursday said that border security is a common and pressing need for neighbouring countries. He warned that if any neighbouring country fails to fulfill their obligation to protect their border than Iran will have no choice but to act on its own.

We are, in principle, against intervening in the affairs of any country, but if they fail to abide by their obligations we will have [no choice but] to act,” said Salami, adding that “Terrorists, wherever they may be, even on the soil of neighbouring countries, we will find them, and if they do not give up acts of terrorism, we will deal with them without reservation.”

In May this year, Iranian border guards trespassed three kilometres into Pakistani territory and shot dead a Pakistani citizen while injuring another in the Prom tehsil of Panjgur district in Balochistan.

Iran, on many counts, has threatened to send forces into Pakistani territories.
