Indigenous Automobile Development Efforts

Turkey should invest in automotive industry they same way they invested in consumer electronics like BEKO (largest producer of home appliance along with Bosch) and Vestel (Largest producer of LCD and LED flat panel display in Europe). Auto industry can improve an nation's Industrial productivity by creating an supply chain and ziabitzu's like companies which encourages an German like economic system, in which an small company can create an value added good which it specializes in (e.g. Pumps and values) to an an major corporation (like Toyota) which needs those sub-system in their complex products. Turkey needs to create more semiconductor foundries and IC fabrication system along with scillion wafer production facilities like TMSC of Taiwan or Intel of America. These microelectronics can help already established consumer electronic industries in Turkey like Beko and Vestel by cutting imports of Taiwanese and Chinese battery parts and German Quality products like Computer aided circuit boards. Turkey also needs to promote international business relations and be good at marketing in order to be good at selling products abroad. The Export oriented industrialization policy is the best way to create economic growth an develop an country's infrastructure and technological base.

Absolutely right.

Seems like you have a good knowledge about Turkish Industry generally. :)

I really don't much about Turkish Industry but I do read alot about how East Asian Economies and Industries work.
Well, your talking about BEKO and Vestel's capability, there are even Turks who dont know much about them.

Virtually everyone in the UK uses BEKO appliance in some form esp. washing machines. I was shocked when I found out it was turkey rather than German. Vestel used to be popular in the Netherland in the early 2000s, I don't know about now though.

Yeah Turkish companys are really capable in household appliances.

It was really interesting, didnt know Vestel was such a modern and big manufacturer, they could be a big newcomer in Electronic segment but i think they need a better distribution strategy.
When I was in germany I actually remember seeing Turkish Appliances being sold in Large German Retail Stores. I remember seeing BEKO for sure. I just hope that they can sell to the U.S because that where the real money is. But like you said distribution needs to be improved for that to happen.

Is Pakistan also trying to develop an indigineous motor for its needs? That's one of the biggest, if not the biggest problem Turkey has.
