I was not impressed with Vizag. IT has deteriorated. When I look at a sea facing apartment broken down, I know the economy is in deep shit. And Vizag has rows and rows of it.

@Mr.Nair I appreciate your commitment towards this thread but you are posting in the wrong thread bro.. There is a thread for posting natural beauty of India.. This is about development happening in here in India..BTW nice pictures mate.. Really breathtaking..

Bangalore will become the world’s largest IT cluster by 2020’

Bangalore is all set to topple Silicon Valley in the US and take pole position as the world’s IT capital by 2020.

*In his inaugural address at CeBIT India and Bangalore ITE.biz 2014, which kicked off at the Bangalore International Exhibition Centre,*on the outskirts of the city, Srivatsa Krishna, IT Secretary, Karnataka Government, *said: “Bengaluru is the unquestioned Silicon City of India and our only competition is the original Silicon Valley in the US. By 2020, we are on track to be the largest IT cluster globally, employing the highest number of IT professionals.”

The statistics doled out on Karnataka’s capital are impressive: Bangalore contributed $45 billion, or 38 per cent of India’s total IT exports, including domestic consumption, last fiscal. Of this, $33 billion was from exports alone, compared with $18 billion from Tamil Nadu and $15 billion from Telangana and Andhra Pradesh.

* Karnataka alone created 73,000 new jobs in IT, last fiscal year and employs 10 lakh people directly and 30 lakh indirectly. This number is expected to double to 80 lakh direct and indirect jobs by 2020.

The country’s first Internet of Things lab will come up in Bangalore and three locations have already been short-listed for the facility: Electronics City, Airport Road and Silk Board. Bangalore will also get a 3D Planetarium on the outskirts of the city, which will be set up at a cost of ₹25 crore.

ITIR: the next big thing

Stating that Bangalore has added another feather to its IT cap by bringing the IT business event CeBIT to India for the first time, Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah said: “When the ITIR (IT Investment Region near Devanahalli on the outskirts of Bangalore) is complete in 2032, it is expected to bring in investments of over $20 billion, create 1.2 million direct jobs and 2.8 million indirect jobs.

The annual revenue generation is expected to be over $40 billion as per the estimates made through a consultant study.” *

CeBIT India and Bangalore ITE.biz 2014 have attracted over 400 exhibitors, 600 brands, and 127 start-ups from 21 States* and 35 nations from around the world.

Butt's comment were nice and reaffirm that Pakistan is natural sub k's to Indian industry, specially IT, textiles, agro, energy and media maybe not so for steel and aluminium.

Go for it Pak., chance of a lifetime. Pak can piggy back on 3-shift, booming India to zoom back to the top in the region re. better infra and links to Gulf, UK , Malay & Central Asia.

Above post on Banglore ... aren't they asking for independence from India, ... hehe .. Why not.?

Jokes part, thAt' something else. Indian defense and telecom biz is also out of Bang. All together hitting $100 Billion. Lump agro. TTake mining, manufacturing, fisheries and local state economy like silk and you have a Pak. Economy wise. Or soon enough.

Azaadi anyone ?

Union Minister of State (Independent Charge) for Tourism and Culture Shripad Naik today announced that the Ministry of Tourism would help Maharashtra's Department of Tourism to create a cultural hub, most of it open air, in Mumbai, similar to New York's Times Square. Naik announced that the Ministry of Tourism would sanction Rs 5 crore for phase-I of the project with similar amounts for every subsequent phase. This would be over and above what the Government of Maharashtra would spend in creating the basic infrastructure to incentivise private sector parties to invest in the project.

The Government of Maharashtra and local authorities will select the various private parties, each of which will undertake a specific responsibility. Mumbai's Kala Ghoda area is being seen as the location best suited for creating such a hub of heritage and culture. A final decision on the exact location in the area will be taken keeping in mind issues such as ensuring that there is no disturbance to vehicular traffic and ensuring maximum activity.

The vision behind Kala Ghoda is to provide popular entertainment as well as access to heritage and culture for the benefit of international tourists, domestic tourists and the people of Mumbai. This should result in a few themes and additional jobs being created.

The features of the hub at Kala Ghoda are as follows:-

(1) A 15-foot-high Flag of India, made of hard transparent materials and lit from within will provide a photo opportunity to visitors, just as the US flag posed does in Times Square.

(2) Large electronic billboards will give corporate an opportunity to advertise their products while also providing income to the owners of the building that host such electronic advertisements and entertainment to visitors.

(3) With the grant given by the Ministry of Tourism it will be ensured that :

(a) the entire pedestrian area will be paved with stone slabs (not cobble stone);

(b) wide steps rising upwards will be created for visitors to sit on. At Times Square such benches are made of high quality, hard transparent, coloured plastic lit from below, as well as some such sitting areas in steps made of steel;

(c) drinking water fountains with reverse osmosis-treated water so that no plastic water bodies are taken there.

(4) One or two high resolution web cams/CCTVs will be operated by one or two private parties selected by the Government of Maharashtra/local authorities to photograph live the visitors sitting on these wide steps and to (a) project them on gigantic screens opposite the benches; and (b) provide a live "stream" on the internet.

(5) Film and cartoon characters, preferably from the cinemas of India and cartoons by Indian cartoonists will, walk around the Kala Ghoda cultural hub for photo opportunities with visitors, as at Times Square. Tipping these humans dressed as cartoon and film characters will be voluntary because they will be paid a salary.

(6) There will be street performances.

Kala Ghoda already has the following facilities and activities that make it suitable for becoming the Indian equivalent of Times Square. It has :

(i) art galleries;
(ii)music shops;
(iii) places to eat at;
(iv) artists sketching visitors
(v) access to the Fashion Street shopping area

The Ministry of Tourism is funding a scheme to project 3-dimensional (3D) images of 36 Indian monuments, one from each State and Union Territory at India Gate, Delhi. Depending on the success of that project, the Ministry of Tourism will consider similar projections on the Gateway of India, Mumbai.

Framework for 100 smart cities will be ready by February 28,2015 : Urban development Secretary

MUMBAI: The framework for Prime Minister Narendra Modi's ambitious project of developing 100 smart cities will be finalised by next month-end, Union Urban Development Secretary Shankar Aggarwal today said.

"In another two days we will complete the process of identification of the 100 cities which we want to make smart. We are working on the guidelines and we expect the framework will be ready by February 28," Aggarwal told reporters on the sidelines of an event here.

The government's vision is to develop cities with technology-based governance that will enable efficient public services and have 24x7 water and power supply, 100 per cent sewerage, drainage and solid waste management facilities, besides top class infrastructure, he said.

The government expects a large contribution from the private sector in developing the cities, he said.

"We plan to develop these cities on public private partnership basis. Every city would on an average need investments to the tune of Rs 1,000 crore over next 10 years. We want the private sector to contribute largely, nearly 80-85 per cent, towards this development," Aggarwal said.

The ministry has asked the states to ensure that the cities which are picked under the smart cities initiative meet the broad contours listed by it, including economically viable cities, meeting the requirements of 'e-governance', 'Swachh Bharat' and 'Make in India'.

"The Centre will take a final call based on criteria like cities accounting for 54 per cent of incremental GDP till 2025, hill and coastal areas, tourist and religious centres and mid-sized cities," he added.
