IIU, Pakistan-China Centre launch Youlin
Islamabad: The International Islamic University (IIU) and Pakistan-China Centre Friday launched monthly Youlin (Good Neighbours) during a ceremony held at the Faisal Mosque Campus.
IIU Rector Profesor Fateh Muhammad Malik appreciated Pakistan-China friendship saying that Pakistan-China Centre means non-political and real friendship between the two countries. He also announced that the university intends to set up a China Study Centre, dedicated to research and teaching regional and international affairs related to China.
Sahibzada Sajidur Rehman said people of the two countries are tied into historic bonds of fraternity and friendship. We take great pride in the fact that China has been most sincere and dependable friend of Pakistan.
It is also a matter of great satisfaction that mutual cooperation, between the IIU and China has been mutually rewarding. On the other hand, we have a number of faculty members who are doing PhD from China in the field of Electrical Engineering, Physics, Nanotechnology and other subjects, he said.
He hoped that these faculty members through their knowledge and competence in teaching and research would prove themselves as good ambassadors of their respective Universities in China. He said IIU has 660 students from China studying in various disciplines, which is the highest number of Chinese students in any university of Pakistan.
He said, At the global level, I consider China as the giant global power house of economic growth, which we wish to emulate. This is no less than a miracle that within the past few decades you have defied all Western economic predictions by jumping to become the 2nd biggest economy in the world.
Pakistan-China Centre Chairman Senator Mushahid Hussain Sayed said the centre was originated from IIU so they decided to hold its opening ceremony in its campus. A 22-member delegation from China, IIU Acting President Sahibzada Sajidur Rehman, Mushahid Hussain Sayed, Ch. Shujaat Hussain, magazine editor Dushka Syed, Agha Murtaza Poya, Dr Khalid Masood and other scholars attended the event.

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan’s first online Chinese-English magazine, “Youlin Good Neighbours”, was launched here on Friday. Dr Dushka Sayed will be the editor of the magazine.
Addressing the launch ceremony at the International Islamic University Islamabad (IIUI), Deputy Governor of Xinjiang province, Qiao Jifu, said China is ready to cooperate with Pakistan in every field, adding that joint strategy should be devised to meet the challenges of the new century. Pakistan Muslim League Quaid-i-Azam (PML-Q) President Chaudhry Shujaat Hussain stressed on the need to enhance contact between the two countries.
Morever, a centre for Chinese studies will also be established at the IIUI, announced PML-Q General Secretary Mushahid Hussain Syed. IIUI has the highest number of Chinese students in Pakistan, he added.
A 22-member Chinese delegation is currently on a five-day visit to Pakistan with the aim to enhance people-to-people contact between Pakistan and China. The delegation comprises eminent poets, writers, journalists and entrepreneurs.
