What's new

Hazrat Khalid-Ibn-Al-Waleed [R.A]

Thats not how its portratyed, usually most people just say 'wait for the arrival of the mahdi'.

A lot of people say a lot of things. The fact is that Muhammad was a human being, like me and you. He is called a Prophet because he was a 'Teacher'....a 'spiritual scholar'.

We know that he was born to humans,we know his family,we know where he was born,we know where he lived,we know where he died and we know where he's burried.

Similarly Mehdi will be a human, and will do human things. He will be a 'Mujadid' [Reformer]. But 'reformer to an existing system'. Islam's strength comes from its real world application. There is very little amount of supernatural content involved. Majority is about humans, society, law and ethics.

Superstition and Islam don't mix, and therefore Mahdi is not going to be some supernatural wizard with a magic wand but a human being with a spiritual and knowledge ability for reform.

This 'mahdi' concept is big fallacy of people, islam is spread accross too many nations, cultures and races for one leader to change everything...he simply won't be acceptable to other factions.
Do u think arabs will accept a pakistani leader?Iran or turkey a arab leader. What does a malaysian or saharn african care about a middle eastern leader. One leader/saviour concept is moot.Think Eu style.

not really! when a LEADER is born! he is born! people follow him no matter what race he is from. example of such a man in current times is nelson mandela!

so when Mahdi comes people will follow him.

secondly times would be tough unlike now muslims will have their backs to the wall and any hope any leader any class or nation he comes from won't be looked at!

finally when Prophet Mohammed R.A. came to the ARABS all the PERSIANS and ROMANS said a prophet amongst the "beggars" at that point they were poor and looked upon as backward.

today look countries like ISTANBUL and TEHRAN follow the religion he brought.

so stop looking at MEHDI in todays times! because clearly Mehdi is not coming now. things need to get a whole lot worse for him to come.

no sir,

he will not be a REFORMER! but a man who will UPHOLD the true values of islam! which by then are supposed to have been eroded. he will come and bring everyone back to the core values and defend MUSLIMS against DAJJAL and fight DAJJAL!

so I don't understand this "reform" concept you are talking about. please elaborate

To me mahdi concept looks quite similar to kalki avatar concept.

Yes very underrated due to inability of arab historians to promote him. Most don't even know his name.Truly one of the all time greats along with genghis/subotai,napoleon,caesar,hannibal,alexander and taimur.

I always cringe when people take the name of Caesar with the greatest military commanders of human history like Alexander, Hannibal, Khalid, Changez Khan, Subutei etc...

Caesar wasn't a brilliant commander...definitely not in the league of above mentioned men...

PS...the reason Khalid isn't known much (which isn't quite true btw, he is a global figure..25% to 30% humanity knows him b/c he was a significant Islamic figure) is the fact that he was just a general, not the 'ruler' of his empire. Another example would be Subutei..I bet most people even in this forum don't know him...even though he is the general who conquered most land in history...Also, over-praise can be a factor too. Since Khalid was a disciple of Prophet Muhammad (SAW)..Muslims always write him as "hazrat khalid bin waleed" and give him a status of someone 'holier than normal'..this also turns non-Muslims off vis-a-vis Khalid.

Same is the case with many Sikh generals, who aren't taken seriously because of the over-praising of those generals..almost making them into some 'holier' figure...

Alexander the Great, Khalid Ibn Waleed, Hannibal, Gengis Khan, Subutei/Napolean (tie) are top five greatest generals of history...rank them in any order...one's personal choice...

You know u underestimate old gaius,
he did what hannibal couldn't do at zama.Win despite massive cavalry disadvantage. He adapted brilliantly at pharsalus.

Take the battle of thapsus, his ingenous marching formation completely fooled labienus.
Take alesia, that circumvillation is unique among all battles in history.
I like to think of caesar as the great improviser, plus u got to admit he faced far more diversified and superior opposition than say alexander.
He fought the lusitanian[portugese],helvetti[swiss],suebi[germans],gauls[french],belgae[celts/belgian],romans,egyptians and pontus[asia minor].Thats a wide range of geographical enemies.
His opposing commanders were also far tougher than darius.
Ariovistus, the german.Vercingetorix the charismatic gallic hero.
Labienus, his own former 2nd in command and grizzled war veteran.
And pompey the great.Plus others.

He along with napoleon also remains the only commanders to capture a whole enmy army almost intact just by manuevering...napoleon[ulm]caesar[illerda against afrianus, petrius pompey's spanish legions]

Czar,kaiser..caesar..he certainly got his PR right too.But He's certainly not as blank as u portray him to be.

A decorated man , no doubt certainly tales that we no longer share in schools or enough exposure to the Military genius mind of that time

Even in that time the tactical Genius mind mattered , even when the instruments of war being used were quit different between two forces
