Growing Mumbai - The city of Dreams

Mumbai has a port and therefore access to the world :) A city where its worth to invest but i think the culture has to change there or the city has to go trough massive gentrification because when people shit on the streets or beach and are taking a bath in canals that is disgusting. If mumbai wants to be respected in the world it has to change.

It's hardly a matter of gentrification, it's all a matter of poverty. No one who can afford an apartment or a small house will shit on the road or bathe in the canals. It's done due to compulsion, not by choice. Mostly slum dwellers do that and frankly they don't have a choice. As a democratic country, we do not raze slums, people will move out of them when they have the money to do so.

It's my dream to own a flat in this sector as my in-laws live there. So it's family connection and decent opportunities. Plus I have liked this place especially from Dadar to Worli very much since decades. GOD willing I will be able to get a flat there on my own.

This side it feels city has stopped growing vertical and infrastructure not well managed compared to further south.

Actually, clean and green Matunga has good infrastructure, and it's a pity that a lot of the old buildings there are being redeveloped into towers. It's some parts of the eastern suburbs further north, that are lagging behind.

My wife's place is just west of the under construction left side tower. I tease her & my in-laws that cell networks are not good there because of that adjacent high-rise.

I hope you get what you want ASAP.

I have not been to Matunga east mostly as it's not on Western route. I might be wrong but I prefer SoBo well established architecture more. Yes I lean towards high-rises but not concrete jungle.
