ISLAMABAD - The outgoing Ambassador of Denmark Uffe Wolffhechel, who is leaving Pakistan after serving here for over two years, has termed "Pakistan a great country with great people and it is absolutely different to what is portrayed in the foreign media."
He said this at a farewell reception hosted on Monday for the diplomatic community and a selected group of media by Dean of Diplomatic Corps, Rodolfo J Martin Saravia Ambassador of Argentina.
Uffe, in his speech thanked the Dean for hosting the reception, where no food was served, keeping in view the sanctity of holy month of Ramadan, and said that before coming to Pakistan he had a different view about the country but after coming here his perception was totally changed.
The Dean of Diplomatic Corps in his address paid glowing tributes to the outgoing Danish ambassador and eulogized his services, which he had rendered for promotion of Pakistan and Denmark relations.
Ambassador Rodolfo said, “It is always sad to see a member of our diplomatic corps to leave and today is not an exception to say goodbye to the ambassador of Denmark and his wife Susie A Ruff”.
He wished the departing ambassador best of luck for all his future endeavors. Later Ambassador Rodolfo presented a memento to the outgoing Danish ambassador.

Happy to read that, a lesson for those that judge this country based on their limited knowledge and isolated media reports.

Not that I want to get into an argument but it isn't just "isolated media reports". Your country has a habit of getting itself into all the wrong headlines. And before you say it, it isn't some grand conspiracy by the entire World to try and discredit Pakistan. It's obviously something else. Brushing it off as "isolated media reports" is just a cop out.

You must admit we get more than our share of media attention, most of it in the negative department, then there's the ill treatment we receive. Arabs attack the USA, the USA attacks Afghanistan, both countries enjoy easy access to scholarships in European universities, Pakistanis struggle for a student visa. Most of the media attention we get is based on the "expert opinion" of arm chair intellectuals who's closest interaction with Pakistan has been on google and their most detailed interaction with a Pakistani was with their local deli boy in the states.

Couldn't agree more. Perhaps the best gist I have ever read on this forum.
