A good step in the right direction, contacts must increase between the neighbors and what better way but through education.

We thank the government and people of Pakistan for providing these scholarships.

"The Executive Committee of the National Economic Council on Friday accorded approval for the award of 3,000 scholarships to students from Afghanistan under the prime minister’s directives"

Clearly good for Afghans.

3,000,000 refugees
3,000 scholarships

What have Pakistanis gotten for educating thousands of Afghans before.

Even someone like you, who has benefitted from Pakistani generosity has not written an oped in your newspapers defending Pakistan or disgracing those who burn the Pakistani flag.

If there are misguided Afghans who burn Pakistani flags -- have you taken out a demonstration thanking Pakistanis for their generosity.

If there are misguided Afghans who beat Pakistani laborers -- have you taken out a demonstration condemning such actions.

And if not you, perhaps the other Afghan Intellectuals like: Omar Samad, Ali Latifi, Nadir Nadery, Omidyar, etc. -- just one line, one reference to an article in hasht-e-sobh, Khaama, Tolo, that condemns the beating of Pakistani Laborers, condemns the burning of Pakistani flags -- is it too much to ask?

Talk is cheap -- Scholarships and refugees expensive

Actions not parasites please

And, feel free to surprise us.

Lets see if Afghanistan can do something nice for Pakistan too. One way relationships never last.

Well! we should treat them good as long as they're here.

Better better make sure that they settle in their original country i.e Afghanistan .

As far as I know, Pakistan has a reserved quota for Afghan students in colleges and universities as well. Whatever their political differences may be, Pakistan has been very magnanimous in providing for Afghan refugees. I know there are some complaints about the treatment of Afghan refugees, but those sorts of problems are inevitable when hosting such a large population of foreign nationals. Being open to providing humanitarian assistance and asylum to refugees seems to be common feature across the Islamic world, other than the Gulf countries.

India too has been helping on a smaller scale— a 5% quota for Afghan students in colleges. It's been working well so far and there's a neighbourhood in Delhi called Lajpat Nagar which has a mini Afghanistan, with most Afghan students living there.

whatever we do for them they will still blame us for thier own incompetence

Replace afghani with syrians.
Afghans can only cause Warlord and Taliban mess Spillover but Syrians would cause ISIS mess spillover as most of them are Sunnis and Most likely Anti Assad(Both Qualities are Abundant in ISIS Supporters in Middle East).

youre welcome,
hope they only study here and dont end up indulging in stuff the Afghans are stereotyped for.

Well here is hoping that this generosity will remind Afghans that we are not the enemy and create goodwill feelings and hopefully these afghans unlike their predecessors will actually speak well about pakistan as they study usingbour resources.

stupid move, Afghan will be thankless no matter what you do.
you raised their presidents in Pakistan and as soon as they cross over to Afghan side they start spitting venom against Pakistan.

Finaly a positive move by authorities.. . We can do them even better by buliding and funding a few collages and technical schools. Especially near our boarder.. so, we can enjoy a bit more literate&reasonable neighbours in future.
