ISRO-made GISAT-1 satellite is planned to be launched into space on March 28 by a GSLV-F10 rocket from the Sriharikota spaceport in Andhra Pradesh’s Nellore district, about 100 km north of Chennai.

As per recent reports, India plans to launch on March 28 an earth observation satellite that will provide it near real-time images of its borders and also enable quick monitoring of natural disasters.

GISAT-1 is slated to be lifted into space by GSLV-F10 rocket from Sriharikota spaceport in Andhra Pradesh’s Nellore district, about 100 km north of Chennai.

“We are looking to launch this Geo imaging satellite on March 28, subject to weather conditions”, an official of the Bengaluru-headquartered Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) told PTI on Sunday.

The rocket will place the spacecraft in a geosynchronous orbit. It will be subsequently positioned in geostationary orbit, about 36,000 km above earth’s equator, using its onboard propulsion system.

The launch of the GISAT-1 onboard GSLV-F10 rocket was originally planned for March 5 last year but postponed a day before the blast-off due to technical reasons. Experts said positioning the state-of-the-art agile earth observation satellite in geostationary orbit has key advantages.

“It’s going to be a game-changer in some sense for India”, a Department of Space official said. “With onboard high-resolution cameras, the satellite will allow the country to monitor the Indian land mass and the oceans, particularly its borders continuously”.

Listing the objectives of the mission, ISRO has earlier said the satellite would provide near real-time imaging of the large area region of interest at frequent intervals. It would help in quick monitoring of natural disasters, episodic and any short-term events.

The third objective is to obtain spectral signatures of agriculture, forestry, mineralogy, disaster warning, cloud properties, snow and glacier, and oceanography. GISAT-1 will facilitate near real-time observation of the Indian sub-continent, under cloud-free conditions, at frequent intervals, ISRO said.

The planned launch of GISAT-1, weighing about 2,268 kg, comes close on the heels of the successful February 28 PSLV- C51 mission that orbited Brazil’s earth observation satellite Amazonia-1 and 18 co-passengers, including five built by students.

Secretary of the Department of Space and ISRO Chairman K Sivan told PTI last week that the technical issues that led to the postponement of the GISAT-1 mission have been resolved and the further delay in the launch was due to Covid-19-induced lockdown which affected normal work.

According to sources, GISAT-1 will be followed by the maiden flight of Small Satellite Launch Vehicle, ISRO’s compact launcher, likely in April. SSLV has been designed to meet “launch on-demand” requirements in a cost-effective manner for small satellites in a dedicated and ride-share mode.

It is a three-stage all solid vehicle with the capability to launch up to 500 kg satellite mass into 500 km low earth orbit (LEO) and 300 kg into Sun Synchronous Orbit (SSO). By comparison, PSLV — the workhorse launch vehicle of ISRO — can take up to 1,750 kg payload into SSO of 600 km altitude.

With lower per kg launch cost, the mini launcher will have multiple satellite mounting options for nano, micro and small satellites. Sivan had earlier termed the SSLV an innovative vehicle which can be assembled in just 72 hours.

“Instead of 60 days (for building a PSLV), it (SSLV) will be assembled in three days; instead of 600 people (needed to build a PSLV), it (SSLV) will be done by six people”, he had said.

GISAT-1 will play a major role in monitoring China and Pakistan's military movements close to LAC and LOC and thus give the Indian military adequate time to prepare its response.

GISAT-1 can also provide vital information that is required to carry out missions like Balakot Strike as high-resolution satellite imagery can provide vital terrain info which is required to mark targets accurately.

Right people with right knowledge are always there

oh boy...another "game changer" by india that will go down the toilet! :disagree:

Dil ko khus rakhne ko khayal accha hia.

Stop buying into this too heavily, the common people have no idea at what level shit is at .
The info bubble around you or anyone will keep you up to date with only the redundant info 20 years behind the times.

Anyone with any knowhow will know that , Info is relayed at such bandwidth and buffered with such large hashing's that it would take take a trillion hours to break thorough. That is for each packet usually in chunks of whatever decided bit/byte size, goodluck breaking each packet to combine in to get anything decipherable. What if the packet sequence is scrambled/hashed? Those are the low hanging fruit of inscription with low Time complexity for those with the hashing algo and astronomically high for those without.

If Pakistan can break into India's telecom ISPs i would be surprised , forget satellites. principles are very similar.

If Pakistan can break into indias millitary TDLs then DL used by ISP companies are nothing... we have learned the art of network destruction thanks to Chinese help.. and with AI being integrated india will be facing a huge problem in EW domain in future..

And I can see your knowhow bahi and I have seen knowhow of people in video too.. one of the reasons I said right people with right knowledge..

If India can make PM Nawaz Sharif and DG ISI Asad Durrani our agents then nothing is difficult.

This guy I cam across wanted to tell something...

Having links to raw and being an agent are way different things...

Brahmos top engineer turned agent of ISI and recent data breah 🤣

And this guy is nothing but a joker who dropped out of an indian scam center over selling stuff..

Baaki ask your AF how did Mi-17s transponder turn off and how its communications got jammed ?

And I can do better than him but at the end of the day its illegal and can end up landing me in jail... india is a lawless country scammers are praised and backed by Hindutva nazis there all the time..

Your ISI chief and Prime Minister turned out to be Indian agent, think about that.

You’ve been selling this for long that you jammed whole IAF signals as if you have supernatural powers, only the MiG-21 radar was jammed being old. But then you jammed whole IAF. Lol.

Spamming BJP-RSS-Hindutva won’t change anything. We can give gpyou even fancier tags.

Well they never did.. naju is blamed for soft spot for his friend modi and Durrani was blamed of having ties with raw in 2008ish era almost 15 years after he war retired due to his involvement woth naju.. keep saying ISI cheif was indian agent 🤣 tumhare to indian army cheif ya defence minister me se aik ISI agent tha...

Samba spy scandal to yaad hoga ??

And mig21 was one upgraded with israeli avionics still got jammed ? Su30s called back why? If they were so jamming resistant they wouldnt try to run back (par bhaag phir b nai sake)... then Mi-17 and 6 IAF k pajeet 🤣...

And Even USA was surprised of Chinese network destroying EW capabilities.. which Pakistan also learned... now AI is being integrated so no place for india to hide 🤣

And its not about spamming hindutva india was a sh*thole even before Hindutva came to power now its more lawless for cyber criminals who run scams from india...
