Thank you..more hilarious was when I listened to Pakistan national anthem and I could understand most of it...Geographical lines do not separate people..

The trick is, if someone knows Urdu, or has studied literature, Old urdu,
then persian is very easy, We understand most of the written form.

However these days its the slang which is spoken, and that is very different.

My Father was a persian speaker, as in that times persian was taught in NWFP.
 
not sure who is that name....but if you go to "Historic sites and architecture" thread,,you will see some pre-islamic Iran sites.
