Fake Degrees Scandal

The sad thing about this whole sorry affair is that this country desperately needs an assembly to complete its whole term, just for democracy to take root and for people to get used to democratic rules and traditions.

Unfortunately its looking impossible at the moment. I don't see this government completing its term.

What do you mean by 'looking impossible'??
For you, keeping these corrupt people in Assembly is democracy?

If these are going home (InshaAllah), new people with a clean background can come. Isn't this democracy for you?

Oh GOD!!!!!! These politicians are gone mad. Even public of Pakistan is sleeping..
I am really worried about this nation.

Even MQM is trying to fool Pakistani people by abstaining and allowing this resolution to pass.

aray bhai, they have fake degrees also!!! do i need to spell it out to you - they r all in the same 'hammam'

What i meant was that its sad that we have the dishonest morons in the assembly instead of honest people, and because of it, another assembly wouldn't be completing its full term.

Also, it would also allow Zardari and co to escape as martyrs and play the Sindh card, something that wouldn't be able to do if they completed a full term.

I was so shocked to hear that this guy (Babar Haiwan) used to deliver lectures about Quran on PTV sometime ago ... I am speechless at how crrupt that person morally is .
Even if whole National assembly goes all fraudsters and cheats should not only be disqualified rather they should be send to Mach Jail ( Adiyala has some VIP jails as well but Mach is a notorios prison ) . Anybody who can fraud and have 'fake degree' lacks character and because they submit affidevit with their nomination papers that they swear by ALLAH ALMIGHTY that their documents are genuine so they break their oaths , you can imagine what regard a person of such character would give to the promises made to people . Simply put a 'fake degree' holder can do any corruption , break promises , rig elections , engage in immoral conduct etc. SO LOCK THEM ALL IN MACH JAIL and throw the keys in River Indus .

We deserve more kicking till the time we keep electing the shameless, dishonest, corrupt, illiterate, cheats, robbers and liers as our representatives. Look at them how shamelessly they are trying to defend cheats. I think they all should go home and people should be given another opportunity to elect their representatives. :pakistan:

Courts are handling the case aptly aren't they?

Competent, visionary and articulate leaders don't emerge suddenly. You don't grow parliamentarians when there are no parliaments and there is no progressive political debate or culture within the society.

Democracy is not an end, but a means to an end.

Only after a continuous process of democratic governance, where citizens play their part and seek accountability and demand better governance, can we look forward to an economically, socially and politically progressive society.

This is the problem whatever courts do government is countering those shamelessly either by awarding pardon or by creating hindrance in processing of cases. So there seems to be no end. And by the way the court doesnt have a very good track. You know it and I dont want to go in its details. I think we only need one Mahateer, only one right person is required who can be followed by this nation. I am sure this system in vogue cannot produce one. :coffee:

This crappy story was published by The News only. Had there been a bill on the cards, it would have been given coverage by others as well.

Of course, there might be some back-door efforts being carried out but it is clear that the courts are having their way, the NA Standing Committee on Education was the one responsible for initiating the whole check-all-the-degrees decision, something all of you have forgotten and the general populace will of course forget in their hatred of the elected parliament. The News has been printing stories about HEC being pressurized, they deny it, no other paper publishes it. The NA Standing Committee itself is overseeing the whole process, the SC is trying to take the limelight here though based on a number of cases that were filed.

There hasn't been any major procedural blockade in the whole process as of now. Otherwise the NA Standing Committee would not have ordered checking the degrees of all parliamentarians, the decision would not have been followed by the ECP and the degrees would not have been acquired by the ECP through request and sent to the HEC foe verification which has already sent it out to varsities for verification. A number of the guilty ones have started resigning already.

Civil prosecution awaits them, that will be deal by the SC in the later part of the month.

The court's track record has no relevance whatsoever here. Don't bring that all-corrupt crap.

I think we only need one Mahateer, only one right person is required who can be followed by this nation. I am sure this system in vogue cannot produce one. :coffee:

Again, the focus on personalities not policies. The dreams of uber-angelic leader or the oxymoronic benevolent dictator have ruined progressive political debate. This obsession with figures will lead us no where. We need progressive policies that require public intellectual debate, not a mythical hero to guide us.

ISLAMABAD: The MPs fake degrees episode is approaching its climax as the universities have started submitting their reports after verification and according to these reports available with the News a federal minister, an MNA, two senators and scores of MPAs have degrees from non-recognized universities.
