I understand where you are coming from, but I hate these populist kind of measures. If I recall correctly, CM Punjab also converted some gov building to university? I'd rather have them reduce their daily budgets. PM house, president house budgets run in to millions per day or week.

There is no comparison. The residence of the Indian PM is not a palace by any stretch of the imagination. 7 RCR is just like any other cabinet minister's residence, just that the compound has 3 such buildings for security reasons. The Rashtrapati Bhavan however is spectacular but it was built by the Brits. This is how the PM's residence looks like. It is very simple, although I am sure it has all the facilities inside.

I know that, but that was also from the money collected by Britshers from poor Indians as tax.

If everyone keeps on following the socialist agenda then we would not be having marvelous architecture history like Pyramids, TajMahal, etc which has withstand the harsh journey of time because of their magnificent size and structure.

So, may be today you feel it is not required, think of generations after generations who will see it and will applause it about its architecture etc.
