The main difference between MIG-35 and Mig29M/M2 is that only the MIG-35 will be offered with the AESA radar and the TVC for the engines. Everything else can be the same.

i really can't tell if the US agreed or if we are up to ! , because the f-16 is going play A2G and close air support for naval forces and the migs will be doing the A2A roles beside the rafale

.
they already have 200 F-16s,

now they will recive,

24 Rafales (+future order of 24)
50 mig 29s

+ remaining Mirage III's F-4's, other Migs, etc.

Wow, that is one maintenance and logistics nightmare! All those different parts and training for mechanics. :o:

I think US will agree if Saudi lobby is behind u.. Moreover these F-16 cant stop BVRM armed opponent.. what will u do when enemy send its BVR armed fighter to stop ur A2G missions? they will be sitting duck against them...

The F-4 Phantom was retired a while ago. The MiG-21/F-7 has been pulled from front line service and stocks are being donated to Libya. Two squadrons of Mirage a still in service and will be retired by 2020.

Basically by 2020 and the arrival of new types the EAF will have 3-4 types only.

A2G within an Air Defence umbrella against conventional threats.

If necessary the -16 will dump its load and attempt to merge (wvr) or get out of dodge.

Any aircraft flying a A2G mission will be vulnerable to A2A fighters.

Yes, its no problem to fit the AESA radar at all and those 2 prototypes are using it since they are also technology demonstrators for the MIG-35. There is no difference in terms of what equipment can fit into either one. The difference is that the Russians have decided that the aircraft will be called a MIG-35 only when it carries one of those 2 options.

MIG-35 is just a political label, there is no actual difference in the airframe and the equipment than can fit in them other than what they have decided to fit in them and that determines the label. If it has AESA and maybe also the TVC then its a MIG-35 and if it doesn't have either, then its a Mig-29M/M2.
