Egypt: How India should respond

Its our responsibility to show solidarity with democratic protests..Before Mubarak We had very good relations with Egypt..

In an ideal world we should show sympathy for those fighting for democracy as well support them in all possible manners. :coffee:

But since the world is not Ideal we should just wait and watch. back end channel can be used though depending upon who is winning. :pop:

Being a democracy, the least India should do is support legitimate aspirations of the Eygptian people.

West Asia, is in India's immidiate neighbourhood and not being concerned about this part of the world is like closing our eyes to reality.

Before Mubarak, India had excellent relations with Eygpt under Gamal Abdel Nasser and Nehru and with a more democratic dispensation, its more likley for India to recover that same level of relationship.

The author of the OpEd Chinamaya Gharekhan is a senior diplomat and PM'
s envoy to West Asia and vast experience in that region, his suggestions are something that should be looked into by GoI

General public don't always matter what if the revolution don't succeed and we end up supporting opposition then it will harm our interest.

In diplomacy ethics or emotions don't matter.

better to stay away until no result come out. our own S.ASIA had tons of problems.
