We will not fall apart but we need to stop bashing our own country! what is fault of Pakistan ? Nothing. The fault resides with Pakistan's so called leaders!

In fact, Pakistanis themselves are avoiding new investments preferring to put their money in land or buying property in the Middle East or parking cash in tax havens

while may be true for filthy rich... that's not true for middle class... writer himself is the biggest bullshitter with no idea of realities.....

Caliph Ali (May Allah be pleased with him) said a state / nation of infidels can survive but any nation without justice cannot survive and that is why Holy Prophet (ﷺ) said that even if his daughter Fatima (May Allah be pleased with her) committed the theft, he will mete her out with the full punishment as per shariah and He further added that the previous nations were destroyed because they used to have different set of rules for the rich and the poor and unfortunately this is bitter reality in Pakistan. Let's see what happens in the dawn- and Panama- leaks cases, if the justice is not served.... I don't want to say anything more except let's pray that we start to follow the straight path, be a just nation and punish the criminals regardless of their backgrounds and weed out traitors and black sheep from our society.

I dont see a ray of light but as a Muslim I believe In Allah that he will prevail justice to the poor!

No. Absolutely NOT. I don't agree. I think by now you know I am not a retard or a sheep that follows the herd. I am rather a maverick by Pakistani standards. I will go against the flow if need be. I don't go with the flow for popularity. But I vehemantly disagree with your assertion. Do I think Pakistan is a developing country with all that it entails? Yes. Do I think Pakistan is any worse than other South Asian countries. No, indeed I think it comes out better then most. In the list of the developing world, Pakistan could do better but it is by no means doing worse than the average.

You made the assertion that institutions have failed - that is a claim. Do please present some hard facts to back up your claim. Failure or not is relative concept. Do not use Norway, Sweden as the benchmark please.

I saw this vlog by a Dutch girl crossing over from Iran into Pakistan. The region of Pakistan she enters, Balochistan is as you know is the 'Wild West' of Pakistan. Just ten miles north you have Afghan border with a full scale war there. The Iran/Pak border is subject to drug gangs, Baloch separatists and has limited infrastructure. Yet here even in the wilds of Pakistan the 'system' is working. Poor policemen on few dollars a day do their duty as best as they can. Through 400 miles of bandit country they escort her. So yes the system may creak, sputter but it works and will keep working. That I have no doubt about.

This lone woman rode all over Pakistan. According to media even a SEAL team would not survive in the country for longer than 24 hours. This is the gap between substance and image you keep bringing up. Image is NOT reality.

Hit the nail on the head!

Off topic: but when I saw "New Bloom" I almost fell off my chain. HAHAHA OMG Small world, I remember seeing this lady along with an Austrian couple that were staying there at the time, she had the room opposite on the other side of the hall from me.

Which one of these nations was carved out as a homeland for a religious minority as realization of a Two Nation theory? Did that dream survive 1971?

This reads like Indian propaganda.

The Two nation theory never depended on Bangladesh, unfortunately the inclusion of Bangladesh was more of an afterthought if anything. According to Kissinger, Pakistani officials were already discussing the possibility of an independent Bangladesh, for many politicians East Pakistan was more of a nuisance than a benefit; Were they destroying the two nation theory? No, because once again the two nation theory did not depend on Bangladesh.

The fact that Bangladesh did not join India proved the two nation theory is still very much functional.

We should remember that economists have rarely agreed on anything. They can interpret the same data in different ways and come up with projections and forecasts that are poles apart.

That being said this article does not provide any conclusive evidence that can support its findings. Just a coupe of jargons are thrown here and there for effect and nothing substantial is achieved through them except impress some gullible readers.

Let us now subject this bullshit to a stool test. First, what does the size of the middle class have to do with anything? Does a population as big as Germany’s mean that a tipping point has been reached fuelling Pakistan’s economic takeoff?

A rising middle class is an economic driver in the way that people in this category will fuel basic consumer goods markets and expect their government to provide safety and security to them. They will require better quality household products and other necessities. A sizable middle class will attract the attention of any investor, manufacturer, etc to provide their goods in the market for consumption. Its just basic economics. A rising middle class will also put pressure on the government to get its act together. we witnessed that with the popularity of Imran Khan. Further, the writer compared Pakistan with a developing country which is misleading. Compare it with other third world countries and you will get different results.

Singapore, with scarcely any natural resources, has a population of 5.8 million (less than that of Faisalabad) and a per capita income of $87,100. Ask how Singapore’s economy skyrocketed with a middle class that could not have exceeded 5.8 million? Or consider the tiny populations of Dubai and Abu Dhabi which have boomed in front of our eyes. South Korea and Pakistan had roughly the same per capita income in the 1950s (when Pakistan was billed as a model of development with a much smaller middle class). Today, the former with a population of 51 million has a per capita income of $37,900. Does this not suggest that the size of the middle class by itself has very little to do with economic growth? Very clearly it is economic policies and governance that matter much more.

The reasons for Singapore rising economy was its founders clear policy towards making it an attractive destination for FDI by developing adequate infrastructure and simultaneously educate its population. Their aim was to create Singapore into a financial hub. Dubai and Abu Dhabi has oil. They can pretty much afford any type of large scale investment. We cannot. But, Our government is also following the same patter. First develop infrastructure and increase FDI, then as FDI flows and jobs are created and the economy grows invest in health, education and other sectors.

Ask the middle class if the skyrocketing economy is generating enough acceptable jobs to accommodate those entering the labour force every year let alone the poor who are still in a majority? Is that the reason why more and more people wish to leave to send back money for their families to consume and keep the bleeding economy on life support?

Pakistan's economy need to grow at at least 7 percent to ensure that enough jobs are created for new entrants each year. After about a decade, the economy grew at a rate of 4.8 percent. This year target rate is 5.5 percent. slowly and steadily, we hope to make it to 7.5 percent before 2020. hence, the migration of resources to other counties will also decrease.:pakistan:

utter nonsense. the very idea of nations by something as subjective as religion is bullshit. Indian muslim population is expected to overtake pakistan's in 30 years. better get to work

Not many will agree with this article.

you think Israel exists because of judaism or their missiles.

Irrelevant, Israel missiles didn't exist when they were created in 1948. Now, you stated:

"the very idea of nations by something as subjective as religion is bullshit."

By definition, Israel is a homeland carved out for the Jewish people. So you are also admitting that the idea of Israels existence is bullshit?
