That is what they believe(by poor and distorted- almost scared) understanding of the Quran and associated texts. It is an understanding based on poor education and/or poor research and exposure.

Essentially, anyone who does not agree with them is liable for death or worse.
it does seem so, but I still want to hear from @Zarvan on it

why not just live and let live, @Zarvan ?

Why do you always make it sound all doom and gloom when it is about your home country? At least tell the guy that bigots of Zarvan's caliber are not all that common. There's a reason why we're not KSA or Iran.

The disease of Pro-Western Thinking will kill itself one day.History is full of such examples, what happened in Iran during the 1979 Iranian Revolution and what Khomeini did in Iran will sooner or later will happen in Pakistan. People who are thinking of Removing the word Islam from state of Pakistan challenge the vision and thinking of Quaid-e-Azam and his two nation theory. Quaid-e-Azam wanted a separate country for Muslims of South-east Asia, where Muslims can practice their beliefs according to the teaching of Islam.

People who teach Holy Quran are not terrorists. People who exploit the Islam teachings and use it for their personal gains are the real terrorists and extremists. For example:- The lal Masjid incident People like Maulana Abdul Aziz who use Mosque as a Garrison to Brain wash students are the real terrorists and culprits.

Because there is always doom and gloom with bigots around. And they are not uncommon as we all like to pretend they are. They throng our neighborhoods, throng our mosques and universities. They are a clear and present danger to the existence of Pakistan as a society, because they are convinced that somehow Allah is speaking to them directly by their twisted or parroted interpretation of Islamic texts and their VERY VERY VERY VERY limited scope in understanding and interpretation.
A scope that is ONLY motivated by political and patriarchal needs that serve only the needs of the clergy who wish to use religion as a drug rather than a source of comfort or knowledge.

So Quaid-e-Azam Mohammad Ali Jinnah who himself loved western suits, smoked cuban cigars, loved his cars and yearned for his home in Bombay which he decorated with item he bought from London, who wanted to allow the Muslims of India to have a state where they can live without a Hindu majority imposing themselves on them and be able to create a state where all human dignity is protected; is suddenly some Islamic revolutionary?
Moreover, the teachings of Islam have multiple schools of thought and interpretation; so are we to jail or execute all those we dont agree with per Quaid-e-Azam?

Islam has a core place in Pakistan and that is to safeguard the interests of subcontinent Muslims in being able to practice their religion in their PERSONAL lives as they wish. Preaching is not a sin but the Quran is CLEAR cut on directives that Tabligh is not for the uneducated and those without knowledge. Those without a thorough and clear understanding of the Quran via MULTIPLE tafaseer, a clear grip on Hadiath beyond google searching and CTRL-V, and a well read history of the Seerat of the Prophet from MULTIPLE accounts should not even be permitted for Tabligh. Rather they should be jailed if they try to do it.

FYI, speak to some Iranians about their Mullah's and their doings.

purpose of restrictions which are applied by the religious teachings as per the instructions of Allah and the Prophet SAW is to create an ideal human society

So can you please tell me which society has been able to use such divine religious restrictions to create the ideal human society? Or may be they belong in the personal domain and not to be imposed on others by force?
