Radar:
-Zhuk ME
The Phazotron NIIR Corporation's Zhuk is a family of advanced multifunctional multimode Doppler-pulse radars designed to provide air-to-air and air-to-surface combat modes for upgraded models of the Mig-29 Fulcrum and Su-27 Flanker aircraft families. Zhuk radars feature a maximum detection range from 110 to180 kilometers for airborne targets and 300 kilometers for sea targets. These radars can track and engage several targets simultaneously guiding sophisticated air-to-air and air-to-surface weapons. Zhuk family utilizes both steered and phased array antennas.

In the air-to-air mode, the Zhuk radar can provide guidance for the latest generation of Russian-made missiles such as R-77, R-73 and R-27 as well as detection of a wide spectrum of airborne targets including hovering helicopters. In addition, the Zhuk radar also provides weather information. In the air-to-surface mode, the radar provides a 3x3 meters resolution ground mapping and support for low-altitude navigation. In the air-to-sea mode, the radar system can detect a destroyer-sized target at ranges of 300 kilometers or a small target, such as a patrol boat, at 150 kilometers.

The Zhuk-ME features steered array radar antenna and is intended for the Mig-29 aircraft. It can detect airborne targets with a five square meter Radar Cross Section (RCS) at ranges of 110-120 kilometers in the forward hemisphere or 50 kilometers in the rear hemisphere while tracking 10 targets and engaging four of them simultaneously. It can track up to two ground/sea targets simultaneously. In the air-to-ground mode, the Zhuk-ME is capable of detecting armored formations at ranges of 25 kilometers and railway bridges at ranges of 120 kilometers.

To date, the Zhuk-ME radar system has been installed on the Mig-29K, Mig-29KUB, Mig-29SMT, Mig-29M, Mig-29M2 and Mig-29UMT aircraft replacing the N-019E radar which features a detection range of 80 kilometers against airborne targets.

Antenna Diameter: 624 mm

Weight: 220 kg (485 lb)

Performance:
-Max Detection Range 120 km (65 nm)
-Max Ground Detection Range 120 km (65 nm)
-Max Surface Detection Range 300 km (162 nm)
-Rear Hemisphere Detection Range 50 km (27 nm)
-Small Ground Target Detection Range 25 km (13 nm)
-Small Target Detection Range 150 km (81 nm)

Other: Engaged Aerial Targets 4, Tracked Aerial Targets 10, Tracked Surface Targets 2

Some general characteristics:
The airborne avionics of the MiG-29SMT aircraft is designed following the principle of open architecture on the basis of a mission computer with the data exchange multiplex channel (bus of MIL STD 1553B standard). It allows to install aboard the aircraft the new systems of Russian or foreign origin at the customer’s request.
– The cockpit data display system includes two new wide-screen MFD-10-6 multifunction color displays and realizes the HOTAS conception.
– INS-GPS navigation system is included into the navigation equipment.
– The aircraft is equipped with in-flight refuelling system.

Aircraft can be equipped with ECM system installed in pod. At the customer’s request the MiG-29SMT aircraft can be equipped with the upgraded IRSTS system as well as with radio-stations, navigation equipment and IFF transponders of different types.

Go for jas gripen and f-16 as they r good in terms of operational cost compared to the migs and sukhois..
As u havn't got any enemies , u can buy one plane from all the vendors and test them, and by that u'll be the first country in world operating fighters from russia, sweden and US...
It's just an idea don't get angry on me,,ok...

seems like you are encouraged by Avishek Bachhan getting ridiculous ideas....

My question how Bangladesh is going to use this, where they will deploy it. Like for India, it is mostly placed against Chinese or Pakistan border.

No our is a small country and deployment in existing bases are suffecient. Besides we already built a forward base in Coxs Bazar recently to secure the bay. Also a squdron will be always ready for maritime strike there.

Anybody who wishes any misadventure in our land and bay.... :smokin:

For protection, You need quality Air defence system and SAM equipped with long range radar and surveillance aircraft.

For Myanmar, It's fine.

For India, Anything would be too less & too little. Still, BD has right to improve her defence. I agree on that.

MiG-29 SMT
-SU-30 (likely the MKK variant)
-Jas 39 Gripen
-F-16 Fighting Falcon
==========================

There is also option of Rafale, Typhoon, F-18 Super hornet- But that would be very very expensive, so out of question. Russia won't sell Su-30 & U.S. won't sell F-16 that is for sure.

Out of these 4 options, Only 2 possible. MIG29SMT & Jas 39 Gripen. Also, China might sell J-10, J-11b to BD which is par with MIG29SMT.

What does it matter which location in BD ??

A fighter jets like Su-30 MKI, our MMRCA can cover 500 Km in few minutes. Even Mig29, Jas Gripen.

BD is small country, so wherever she operates, won't make difference. Single engine jet would be fine. In our case, we need 2 engine jets like MKI, Mirage M2k, MMRCA as it has to cover 5,000 km sometime due to our doctrine.

j10 would be the best in my views due to factors such as
a reliable partner
provision of soft loan
low cost jet

jas 39 would be a good choice too but it has a lot of us content in it would require there nod plus new infra would have to be made for it

thirdly the jf17 cost effective jet with the provision of loan

miage is a single engine jet

BD airforce already got two unsolicited offer for Mig-29 CMT and Lockhead F-16. They are also evaluating SU-30 and some poster said that BAF already requested for SU-30 probably the MKK variant to the prime minister.

Those who think Russia wont sell, they are wrong. They are selling whole lot of things to BD now a days.

None of the Chinese jets are immediately available. So BD has to look for other sources. The most likely winner would be SU-30 or Mig-29 becuase our existing infra support those Russian techs.

In the short-to-medium term, you are correct.

In the long term(out to 2030) BD will have conventional forces at least on a par with Pakistan

Next up - the F-16. Since they haven't stated exactly which block they are going for or that the US is willing to offer, we'll assume the Block 52.
