Construction of warship for Pakistan underway

The reason why that's probably not going to happen yet is that the PN is building a force that can operate outside the littoral zone. Having a force built up primarily of corvettes isn't a good idea, especially since the IN operates ships which are far more capable and can operate outside their immediate range, which threatens Pakistan's maritime interests. You've also got the headache of American systems on the Milgem (Jinnah) which need replacing.
The Type54A is a far more powerful ship and the logical thing would be to move ahead with four more.

The quest for offshore oil is directly linked with our ability to secure our littoral waters. Two oil well drilling vessels are in port in Karachi.

I do not think that the corvettes of PN will look very similar to the F-511 Heybeliada which is laid down in 2005.

All management systems of the ship are Aselsan production. All electronic and physical countermeasures systems and all weapons systems are already in localized or work is in the final stage. Radar suites will also change with indigenous Aselsan designs.

But i think , One of the reason why MILGEM is handed over to Pakistan with IP rights is to include Chinese navionics in the capacity of Pakistan's littoral warfare.

Technically, the only area in which MILGEM is connected to the US is the CODAG system and gas turbines. Diesel engine and shaft system is German. Changing the ship's propulsion system in the Jinnah class does not have as much difficulty as it seems.

By the way, I agree with the idea that the navy needs to be expanded in tonnage. However, I think that the Pakistani Navy will be able to design and produce frigates according to their original needs within 10 years.
The PN Milgems will be armed with locally developed Harba Missile System which also arms one of PN's missile ship. Link to the source--> https://defence.pk/pdf/threads/top-brass-interview-cns-admiral-zafar-mahmood-abbasi.594843/

I read this piece. But which AAW weapons will the ships be fitted with? I havent come across any credible info abt that. Beuase if its a medium range weapon, would add considerable punch to our anti air capabilities in water

for anti air PN might opt for CIWS 1130 or FL-3000N. cannot fit LY-80E on to Ada class or OPV.

It's nothing in front of Bra-mouse mahaan shakti vedic majayal

The most likely air defense for the MILGEM will be either the 24 Cell FL-3000N, or a Phalanx from the retiring Amazons. These will likely be replaced by either a local solution or turkish solution in the near future. But as of yet, no definite answer for Air defense has been given.

Can we ask turkey to develop Hisar O SAM for our MILGEM Frigates?

Unless there is an 8 or 16 shot launcher version, if 32 cell is too heavy but Meghan is fully loaded @ ~2500 tons so it’s not too small either

Standard weight for type 054 is 3500 tons and full load ~4000 tons

VLS at least mk- xx series weight from 12000 to 30000 lbs depending on number of cells 8-16-32-64

VLS and beam and draft

The Type 055’s beam and draft is likely sufficient for all 112 VLS to accommodate the largest 9 meter variant.

Beam:
14.40 m (47 ft 3 in) for Ada class
14.40 m (47 ft 3 in) for İ class
Draft:
3.90 m (12 ft 10 in) for Ada
4.05 m (13 ft 3 in) for İ class

054a
Beam:
16 m (52 ft) (CCTV report)

Beam 16 m / 52 ft
Draught ~ 6 m

Than whats the point of TOT
Pakistan should have bought 3-4 milgem off the shelf and got tot for type54

I think share quantity of IN means that a couple of 2500-3000 tones ships are better than 1 5-6000 tone ship..as we will be focusing mostly on aerial denial

SSB has been conducting numbers of projects for layered air defense and engagement to enemy systems, including:
Hisar MANPAD 4km altitude, 6km range
Hisar-A 10km Altitude IIR, 16 + km range
Hisar-O Mid Altitude, IIR guidance, 15km altitude, 25 + km range
Hisar-ON (Point) High Altitude Medium Range, RF guided, 20km altitude, 50km range
Hisar-OD (Sea) Rim-7 Sea Sparrow RIM-162 equivalent.
Hisar-U High Altitude Long Range, IIR-RF Seeker, 20 + km altitude, 120-150 km range
SIPER High Altitude Long Range ADS

In addition, the agreement signed with the EuroSam consortium is about joint work and integration of the new generation ASTER30 missile system. In other words, 2020s will be years in which Turkish navy systems will increase both localization and air defense capabilities. All of these projects are secured by gov and all proceed in accordance with the schedule. Our expectation is to introduce local solutions on surface to air defense systems from 2022-2023.

In order to achieve this transition, the National VLS project is also underway . We'll probably see a model in IDEF.

National solutions have been created in all navionics needed, including the Warfare Management System and decision support units, and have achieved worldwide competitive power. in the field of radar suites and target identification, we expect the CAFRAD system to complete field tests in 2019 . Therefore, it is inevitable to see the local VLS solution within a few years.

In short, Turkish systems need 3-5 years to offer a competent and holistic solution. This situation, highlights the Chinese alternatives in Pakistan's naval modernization efforts.

052C.

055 is more of a Cruiser with 13000 tons displacement.

If PN goes for the 052C, it will be armed with better sensors and weapons than the existing vessels in the PLAN.

So one can expect follow on order of 4 Type-54AP along with at least 2 (initial order out of 4 ships) Type-52Ps (customized version of 52C).

Yep indeed and there will be a need for assets to be stationed near there round the clock, hence the Ada and F22's.

Along with Azmat class FACs.

China has setup new strategy , where they control there all trade route through Gawadar port. Crew of these ships will be Pakistani but equipment and strategy will be Chinese. In near future , Chinese will park AC near Gawadar port. Some much going on , but less media coverage.

Construction of warship for Pakistan underway
China Daily, January 2, 2019

China recently started construction of an export version of one of its advanced warships and will deliver it to Pakistan as part of a major arms deal, according to China State Shipbuilding Corp, a large State-owned defense contractor.

It said the ship is a version of the Chinese Navy's most advanced guided missile frigate, without specifying its type.

In late December it said the ship is under construction at its Hudong-Zhonghua shipyard in Shanghai, noting it will be equipped with modern detection and weapon systems and will be capable of anti-ship, anti-submarine and air-defense operations.

According to the Pakistani Navy, the ship's class is Type 054AP, which means it is based on the Type 054A of the People's Liberation Army Navy. It previously said four such ships had been ordered.

Once constructed, the warship will be one of the largest and technologically advanced platforms of Pakistan's Navy and strengthen the country's capability to respond to future challenges, maintain peace and stability and the balance of power in the Indian Ocean region. It will also support the Pakistani Navy's initiative of securing sea lanes for international shipping by patrolling distant waters, it said in a statement on its twitter account.

Type 054A is the best frigate in service with the PLA Navy. Military sources said the ship has a fully loaded displacement of about 4,000 metric tons and is equipped with advanced radars and missiles. About 30 Type 054As are in service with the PLA Navy, observers said.

Cao Weidong, a senior researcher at the PLA's Naval Military Studies Research Institute, said that in the past, the Pakistani Navy would ask its Chinese contractors to use Western radars or weapons on ships constructed by Chinese shipbuilders because it believed Western naval technologies were better than Chinese ones.

"But it seems that all weapons and radars on the new ship will be Chinese products, which reflects our progress in the industry and the Pakistani Navy's confidence in our technology and capability," he said.

Cao said there are many nations selling frigates in the market, so Pakistan must have made thorough comparisons in terms of combat capability and costs.

"I believe the reason they chose our type is that ours is one of the few that can carry out all of the air-defense, anti-ship and anti-submarine tasks," he said, expecting the service of the Chinese frigate to substantially boost Pakistan's defense capability.

An insider in China's shipbuilding sector with knowledge of the Type 054AP program told China Daily on condition of anonymity that the ship is the largest and most powerful combat vessel China has ever exported.

"Based on pictures circulating on the internet, the ship will have vertical launch cells that can fire Chinese HQ-16 air-defense missiles and other kinds of missiles. Vertical launch cells will bring flexibility to the user in terms of weapons portfolio, thus giving it a stronger fighting capability," he said, adding that the Type 054AP is the best frigate Pakistan can access in the international market.

"The service of Type 054APs will double the combat power of the Pakistani Navy's surface fleet," he said.
