Norinco has produced 3000 ZTZ96s and 1000 ZTZ99(including updated version) for PLA.And ZTZ96 has been exported to many countries.China has designed many types of MBTs since 1950s and produced about 30 thousands tanks during cold war,so we are very experienced in the design and production of MBT.
And what about India?Even your own army deny to accept Arjun.
Only Indians will cosider Arjun better than ZTZ99,which is obviously impossible.

The infrastructure on obth sides of LOC is better suited for a MBT weighing 45 to 50 Tons.(subcontinent infrastructure)

The main battle tank MBT-80 which is now called MBT Arjun was conceived by the Indian Army after it realized the futility of its tanks mainly in desert conditions, during the 1971 war.

Arjun will perform very good in desert. Israelis have pointed this out already.

But its not suited for all LOC and cant be used along border with China.

Then there are other factors like cost- buying Arjuns and setting newer infrastructure and Logistics which means Arjun will not be Mass Prodcued and Replace T 72.

Instead it will serve with Elite Units and probably play the same role Soviets wanted T 80 to play.

I think in total 300 plus Arjuns will be produced.
