Several times last year, Moscow claimed its aircraft had been “harassed” by US and Coalition fighter aircraft. It even boasted that US F-22 “Raptor” stealth fighters had been “chased off” by its Su-35 interceptors.

US accounts, of course, differ. They say the Russian aircraft were operating on its side of the Euphrates, and nonlethal techniques were used to turn them back.

But one encounter between US and Russian forces apparently did turn lethal earlier this month.

Some 500 pro-regime Syrian forces launched a surprise attack on a Syrian Democaratic Force outpost near the city of Deir al-Zor on the east bank of the Euphrates.

Accounts differ. But the most disturbing claim states that about 200 mercenaries supplied by a Moscow-based security firm were killed or wounded in a devastating counter-attack launched by US aircraft and artillery.

If Russian Su-57 stealth fighters really have arrived in Syria, it could represent a dangerous new escalation for the already tumultuous region.

It poses further potential for ‘accident’.

The United States sent its radar-invisible F-22 into Syria early last year.

It was considered a surprise move at the time.

Now Russian combat aircraft can also be roaming the skies, unseen.

If they follow the previous pattern of engaging in quick raids across the Euphrates, US and Coalition forces may again get caught up in an unintentional clash.

What can be certain is both sides will take the opportunity to observe as much as they can about each other’s stealth aircraft — their strengths, and weaknesses.

Just in case.

But the Su-37 is barely combat capable.

Just two are believed to have their avionics and sensor suite in a suitable state. And only one has the modern engines necessary to make it a truly 5th generation fighter.

Ambitious plans for large orders of the stealth fighter have been steadily scaled back in recent years. The first batch of just 12 production models is due to begin delivery in 2019.

Modi is dumping FGFA in favor of F-35. Good news is for China & Pakistan who are the prospective countries to replace India in the PAK-FA program.
That is your wishful news.....notjing confieming what yiu say. I dont think pakistan will go for it as they have project azm

Pakistan has a history of keep things under wrap and revealing it later to the surprise of India be it Nukes, Raad, Burraq, Ababeel etc. I am sure Pakistan would reveal this in the course of time once India announces the completion of F-35 deal.

Things are getting more interesting, looking forward for raptor VS su-57.

The US has over two squadrons of those F-22s in Syria. What will Russia do with only two?

Test them against f 22

That will require actual confrontation and I highly doubt Putin will take the risk. Putin should test his new toys against the Zionist F-35s before taking on the much superior F-22s. So far I haven't seen that happening.

The goal is to find potential customer for it ...
anyway Russia doesn't even sell Su-30 to Iran , so there is no excitement for us ...

maybe Russia want to sell them as long range heavy stealth fighter to Israel ...

Your analysis is just amazing! Bravo! Please spare us the pain, it's a topic with serious implication.
