Unfortunately, no, not until the patient has already progressed to AIDS in 2-10 years post exposure. Even if there are some, they resemble common cold or at best flu-like symptoms, and many patients would ignore them as such or try to address with OTC drugs.

If someone has been involved in HIV risk practices, for instance, unprotected anal or vaginal sex, he/she should see the doctor ASAP. In-fact, if they approach the medical practitioner within 48-72 hours of exposure, they could be put on PEP (Post-Exposure Prophylaxis) treatment and chances are that HIV could be stopped from establishing productive infection.

Window period of HIV infection spans 6 months and therefore the patient is tested on month 3 and 6 post exposure. If patient has not developed anti-HIV antibodies (surrogate marker for productive HIV infection) within 6 months post-exposure, they have most probably dodged the bullet.

Wouldn't be hard to corroborate whether a lady doctor did get harrased at DHQ Pindi...if true, this whole story checks out.
