Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) chief Altaf Hussain on Wednesday announced the instigation of a ‘reformation’ process within the party ranks, DawnNews reported.

Speaking to members of the party’s Rabita (coordination) Committee via telephone from London, the MQM chief prohibited collecting any sort of donations from the general public. He said there is a ban imposed on funds collection, adding that the basic party membership of culpable worker/workers will be revoked upon any such complaints.

Hussain said the MQM follows “zero tolerance policy” when it comes to “China Cutting,” settlements and land-grabbing. “There is no room in MQM for people involved in these unlawful activities,” he added.

The MQM chief urged any party activist, involved in land and property grabbing or sale/purchase of houses, apartments or plots, to voluntarily resign from the party membership.

Otherwise, he added, upon receiving any such complaint, party membership of the guilty worker will be terminated.

Meanwhile the Supreme Court on Wednesday adjourned hearing of a constitutional petition against Altaf Hussain, the chief of Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM), while pointing out errors in the petition and directed the petitioner to resubmit it before the court.

The petition was filed by the leaders of Watan Party against Hussain praying the court to put a ban on the functioning of MQM in Pakistan and its chief’s broadcasts and telecasts also be banned by the apex court.

A three-judge bench, comprising Chief Justice Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry, Justice Chaudhry Ejaz Afzal and Justice Gulzar Ahmed, heard the petition.

During the short hearing, the bench pointed out several technical errors and omissions in the petition and directed the petitioners to re-submit it.

The court also directed the petitioner to verify the status of MQM with the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) to ascertain who the actual head of the party was and adjourned further hearing of the case for a week.

On Tuesday night, Altaf Hussain had also disbanded his party’s Karachi Tanzeemi (organising) Committee citing ‘hooliganism’ during his speech on Sunday morning.Agencies

I think that Mr.Hussein has really taken a very nice step by accepting, diagnosing and disintegrating such elements. I suggest that Mr.Hussein must also work on his image as well and prevent himself by throwing comments like 'tearing Karachi apart' or abusing Mr.Khan.

LHC seeks Altaf's reply over controversial speech

The Lahore High Court (LHC) Thursday sought reply within two weeks from MQM chief Altaf Hussain, Secretary Interior, Secretary Foreign Affairs and others on a petition seeking removal of Hussain from the MQM leadership and action against him after his repatriation to Pakistan for alleged remarks against the ideology of Pakistan.

Justice Muhammad Khalid Mehmood Khan passed the orders on a petition filed by Advocate Fayyaz Ahmed Mehr.

Earlier, the petitioner’s counsel submitted before the court that Altaf Hussain is a foreign national and claims to be the chief of the Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM.)

He said, on May 12, he addressed his party workers and allegedly threatened the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP), the establishment, media and workers of political parties and politicians and also demanded to separate Karachi from Pakistan.

The counsel said Hussain’s demand was against the constitution of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan and also against the ideology of Pakistan. “It is a conspiracy and a move to destabilise and create unrest in the country just to achieve his nefarious goals,” he added.

He said according to the Political Parties Order 2002, only the citizens of Pakistan can form, organise, continue or set up a political party. But, he added, Altaf Hussain is not a citizen of Pakistan and cannot claim to be the chief of a political party.

The petitioner’s counsel prayed the court that Hussain should be refrained from claiming himself to be the chief of MQM and also Pakistan Electronic Media Regulatory Authority (Pemra) be directed to stop all media outlets from giving coverage to his speeches.

The petitioner prayed the court to issue directions for bringing back Altaf Hussain and to deal with him in accordance with the law.

The court after hearing the arguments issued notice to the respondents and sought reply within two weeks.

Why now, what happened now. Oh wait, he did have a verbal diarrhea, and is now presumably under investigation.

Either he is talking about buying a new dinner set, or referring to something that chor dari did. But then again it could just be an error by the reporter, after all it is quite hard to understand what the fat clown is talking about due to his antiques during speeches.
