As with cans of food, ALL missiles have an expiration date beyond which their proper functioning can't be guaranteed by the manufacturer. Either the rocket motor becomes unstable or its electronics conk out. Of course, the poorer the storage conditions, the sooner missiles start to give trouble. Normal shelf life for russian AAMs is about 8 years, western munitions 10-15 years. Go figure what the situation is with stuff around 1995.

RBS-70 is a man portable short-range anti-aircraft missile (up to 7-8 km). The latest missile - BOLIDE - has an intercept range of 8 km and altitude coverage in excess of 5,000 m. By comparison, the kill range of the truckmounted (development using AAMs is not man portable) SPYDER-SR (short range) system is from less than 1km to more than 15km and at altitudes from a minimum of 20m to a maximum of 9,000m. I.e. double that of RBS-70, irrespective of which missile used. FUrthermore, there is also a medium-range version, SPYDER-MR, which has a range over 35km at altitudes from 20m to 16km. In short, they are totally incomparable systems.
