I will be honest here.
When I saw the first image for a brief second there I thought it was troll and I'm a aviation enthusiast.
It's amazing how funny things look when we look back a hundred years.

100 years from now we will be laughing at our current radar systems.
'haha look at that spinning plate it's a toy'

I don't have anything funny to say about electronically scanned arrays etc as they are currently high tech.

As a sensor specialist, I would sleep with the Devil himself to have one of those things in my backyard.

Whoever started this, you realize that the days of 100 propeller driven aircraft flying at 10k feet are over right? These 'horns' :) can't detect today's 747. Let alone an aerodynamically superior aircraft like an F-15 or F-16. Recommend closing this thread.

Future radars will be like rounded plate - rotodome having a quarter of the size, diameter and thickness of today's radars. Capable of detecting objects at three times the distant

Genius, If you use little brain you can really sense it that he is talking about how aircrafts were detected before invention of Radar tech. He is not saying that Radars should be replaced with this horns.
