What is the context of these photos? POW's from the Korean war whooping it up in a staged propaganda set piece?

the chinese army is known for the dignity and decency with which it treated POWs historically. the less honorable american souls wanted to see ulterior motives in such magnaminous acts, and to such despicable charges a truly generous nation can have no rhetoric comeback except wishing that americans, too, would one day have such shining "staged propagandas" to show the world (and would hide abu ghraibs and guantanomos better)

Is only recently declassified. Is not meant for anyone to see.

Also as an aside the prisoners are captured by PVA, but this is held in NK, not China.

Don't bs in English. The Eight-Nation Alliance formed due to brutal Qing treatment of British POWs.

china wasn't even part of the european diplomacy and system of nations yet, and POW wasn't a concept at the time. brits didn't treat chinese POWs well - ****, europeans at the time didn't treat any chinese well, not to mention the viets and indians they enslaved. and likewise, at the time china to some degree still lived with some of the old diplomatic rules our ancestors had written for ourselves and other asians within our sphere of dominance.

what i was speaking of, of course, was conducts of chinese and american militaries in the post-wwii era. that much was obvious to all participants of the discussion until the invasion of a canadian troll

A picture tells no lies.
Just look at the faces of these POW and make your own conclusions.

China Inspired Interrogations at Guantánamo

WASHINGTON — The military trainers who came to Guantánamo Bay in December 2002 based an entire interrogation class on a chart showing the effects of “coercive management techniques” for possible use on prisoners, including “sleep deprivation,” “prolonged constraint,” and “exposure.”

What the trainers did not say, and may not have known, was that their chart had been copied verbatim from a 1957 Air Force study of Chinese Communist techniques used during the Korean War to obtain confessions, many of them false, from American prisoners.

We never forced them to open Guantnamo ;)

but you taught them how to run it :P

Teaching and forcing are to different things, Americans opened Guantanamo by themselves and applied all the methods themselves.

trust me, if you end up to be a POW, it's better be a Chinese POW

educate yourself a bit

POWs captured by North Koreans faced brutal treatments, a big contrasts with Chinese, POWs captured by Chinese had said they were treated well after released and returning to their countries, including US servicemen, this was even printed in "The Soldier of Fortune" monthly magarzines in an edition 20 year ago, in an honest article by a magazine that was anti-communist and that usually did not speak well for Chinese. The same patttern emerged in Chinese Civil war where millions ex-KMT soldiers surrendered and joined PLA, similarly Indian POWs in 1962 were treated well.

Does not matter if you want to call it propaganda, the facts is they were treated well.
