Convocation ceremony of 121st PMA Long Course was held Saturday at Pakistan Military Academy (PMA) Abbottabad where Lieutenant General Tahir Mahmood, Corps Commander Rawalpindi, was chief guest.

On the occasion Lieutenant General Tahir Mahmood congratulated the cadets on achieving the memorable day of their life and appreciated hard work put in by faculty of the Academy in preparing and training future leaders of the Pakistan Armed Forces.

He said that education does not merely imply the ability to read and write, it aims at the refinement of character and its development. He further said that the art of warfare has entered a new era which has made it more sophisticated and scientific in terms of armament. All political, social and geographical changes which have haunted and perturbed the regional peace in the recent past have constrained us to reconsider our priorities and answer the question of our internal and external security with more formidable force.

Major General Raheel Sharif, Commandant Pakistan Military Academy said that at Pakistan Military Academy, personality development and intellectual grooming of the cadets assume primary importance. With every fleeting day, the profession of arms like all other fields of life, is getting more and more technical and complex, hence it is becoming increasingly formidable and demanding.

Successful negotiation of the prevailing dilemma lies in the manifestation of complete devotion to our sacred profession and relentless endeavour for attainment of excellence.

Later, Lieutenant General Tahir Mahmood gave away degrees and medals to the graduating cadets. Gentleman Cadet Salman Muhibbullah received Science Medal for being best in academics. Battalion Senior Under Officer Bilal Akbar was given COAS Medal and Academy Senior Under Officer Muhammad Talal Tariq was given Tactics Medal in military subjects whereas Humanities Medal went to Battalion Senior Under Officer Bilal Akbar. Sergeant Tausif Ahmed achieved Shooting Medal and Gentleman Cadet Waseem Ishaq won the Physical Efficiency Medals. Academic Gold Medal (Allied Cadets) was achieved by gentleman Cadet Taysir Basel Taysir Jarrah.

In Ladies Integrated Course-6, Lady Cadet Shahnaz Gul attained Physical Efficiency Medal and Lady Cadet Fatima Zahid was given Shooting Medal. Haider Company was given Professional Efficiency Trophy for getting first position in training while Qasim Company achieved Commandants Trophy. The ceremony was attended by a large number of serving and retired Armed Forces Officers, parents and relatives of the cadets.
