Pakistan, India Engaged in Race to Field Fifth Generation Stealth Fighters

Wait.So that FGFA thing agreement havent even signed yet?
"We are ready to sign"

So all that chest thumping by indians right from half decade ago that we are "Acquiring" .

Man!! These indians.

Kitna rola daaltey hain yaar.MMRCA pe bhi dimaagh pakaya hua tha barken maar maar ke. And now Even PAKFA agreement is yet to see day light and they blabber like Pakfa squadrons are ready to be deployed against Pakistan :D

We Indian banaya's are masters of propaganda & psychological warfare, paka paka ke marunga. :dance3: :damce3:

The article is wrong on multiple facts. PAF has only expressed interest in the FC-31, due to the fact that an export version of the J-20 doesn't even exist, nor is it even on China's current agenda. It is possible that China may make a PAF specific version of the J-20 fighter (if PAF does express interest, and China gives in to Pakistani requests), as it has done in the past with previous fighters, but it is unlikely.

Also, your claim that the FGFA will be a decade ahead of any Chinese design, that's a bold claim to make. China already has two fighters on par with the PAK-FA, in development, one for domestic needs, and the other for export purposes. Both of the Chinese fighters seem to be developing fairly well. Right now, we only have capabilities of all these fighters on paper (both Russian and Chinese), the only way to get a proper gauge is if they were to fight (not necessarily against each other) in a real combat situation, but let's hope that never happens.

Neither is Pakistan, all it wants to do is maintain a minimum deterrence. The article is click bait, and purely sensationalist.

I never compared Chinese 5th gen and PakFA (revisit post)

I am comparing FGFA vs Joint 5th gen fighter a co development between China and PAk ( Which is imaginary as of now)

China will focus on it own requirement for next 5 years and think of working on another platform with Pak

There are reports that PAF is actively involved with the FC-31, which is why there is continued development of the said fighter, so no, such a thing isn't imaginary.

And you did, compare, by saying that the FGFA would be a decade ahead of a "potential" joint venture.
Event if they decide to co develop some thing it will be a decade behind FGFA.

Timeline means very little in this case, all that matters is capability.

What race ???

India is involved in co development of FGFA T50, sharing program cost.

Pakistan will acquire left overs from China, after they fulfil their requirement. Event if they decide to co develop some thing it will be a decade behind FGFA.

FGFA is reality and JFXX is only in thoughts for PDFians. Nothing committed from China, no designs, no infra setup for RnD and prototyping

the JFXX that you think is only in our thoughts has already had test flights

Not a bad flight for a plane that has not been designed yet, with no infrastructure setup :chilli:

Sources in the Indian Armed Forces were quoted by Indian media as saying the J-20's appearance at the Zhuhai Air Show on Nov. 1, although lasting less than a minute, was enough to impress senior officers of the Pakistan Air Force (PAF) that were at China's largest military arms exhibit.

I am sure PAF senior officers have seen J-20 in details before this air show

I get offended seeing Pakistan mentioned along side India in anything

We have our own independent goals , and we need not involve the enemy's name into news

These are all about future acquisitions (if any) by both Pakistan and India which involves a lot of if's and but's. :)

But the reality is that IAF is having a clear edge at present since we have over 200+ Su-30MKI in response to which Pakistan only have some less than 100 F-16's as your air superiority fighter I guess.
Sadly F-16's are getting older far too fast.
:(

It's better that PAF go for few Eurofighter Typhoon or Dassault Rafale to fill some gap, while the Chinese or any other G5 fighter is available. :)

Nice. So it will be PAKFA, AMCA and possible F35 VS J 20 and J31. Interesting.

There is no race of any kind. India is ahead and will field the first 5th gen fighter in south asia.

Hello All
I would like to take you all back on one stamen that said "Pakistan is looking in to "Eastern and Western Fighters and Tech".
Its sounds like more realistic that Pakistan will go for FC31 , The Bird will be ready for production until 2020 - 2022 max , and at that same time we will have our own JF17 block 4 more advance and stealthier (not stealth) with more composite materials, A great combo of JF17 (single engine stealthier ) and JF31 (double engine stealth).
Now on Western front , My take is Pakistan will join TFX ( better and safe) for stealth fighter , and for 4+ or 4.5+ fighter (heavy bird) PAF may go after F16(new blocks preferable) , MK2000 , Typhoons .
F16s are already in our inventory , MK2000 can be added with some extra cost ( only back drop is that IAF already operate them , Typhoons (old or new) Expensive but do able with time and Keep in Mind KSA will have there own Production Unit soon.
I will really love to see our own 4.5+ Twine engine heavy bird (base on JF17 or JF31 or TFX or completely new ) with stealthy features and etc , etc :enjoy:

Su-35 or China's J11 and others (In future ) may be consider as options but mainly for Navy's Air Wing . Because the suites more in Maritime Roles.

India is not ahead, India is in reverse gear, You are 8 years behind Pakistan in 4th generation Tejas and you are talking of 5th generation ?

300 j f 17s, 50 J31s (all with AESA and BVRAAMs) with some 80-100 F16s is an ideal combination alongwith AWACS and data links

SU30MKIs will be falling like mosquitoes at the hands of BVRAAMs. Make no mistake this is not the era of dogfight, this is era of Radars vs Radars and missiles vs missiles, an inferior platform will outperform a superior plane if suitably equipped

Considering how many generation it took to Induct Tejas and then Rafael, the development and planned induction of f-17 was lquite much ahead. So I very much doubt about that
