Islamic khilafat? Kashmiris are only demanding right of self determination....Where did u see Islamic Khilafat in this? I know you and I already know that what Kashmiris want but still u wrote that lie but i still replied to you so that other international readers don't fall for your propaganda....

Kashmiris never demanded anything but right of self determination. It is their right and u can't deprive them off from this for too long....

If anyone who demanded certain idealogy to be imposed on people...it was your right winger extremist INDIAN PM MODI and his RSS THUGS....who chanted Hindu Raj/kingdom....

Hindus are doing it very openly in India terrorizing Muslim and other minorities since the RSS/BJP and Modi came to power. They are using mother cow and many other tactics to create fear in the non-Hindu citizen. Kashmir issue is also a part of the Hindu communal agenda. The way Hindu BJP government is terrorizing non-Hindus on daily basis, Kashmiri people feel insecure and worries of keeping their identity, culture and shelters. India would like to keep Kasmir under her hands using all the fascist means killings hundreds and uprooting thousands, and that is the bottom line of the Kashmir up-rise. A time has come for the international communities to raise their voice and force plebiscite as the only meaningful solution to resolve the Kashmir issue.

Hang your yourself along with PM Modi first then come again to spout propaganda against Kashmiris......Self determination is only choice left for Indians regarding Kashmir....give it before it will be taken from you.....

Peace!!!

Divide and rule tactics can be played by Britishers only...Indians are yet to master that trick...Kashmiris regardless of religion are asking for right of self determination.....Give it to them instead making people revolve around Pandits who are not at all related to this....Kashmiris wanting of self determination right is not related to imaginary fairy tale "Pandits" whom you bring up in every Kashmir debate just make people laugh at non sense....

Self determination and only self determination will solve this...Is this too hard to understand???

Right, self determination to drive out all other kashmiris of other religions and sects to create a 100% (sunni) Muslim Islamic state. That's probably called an Islamic Khilafat...I guess.

BTW, your beloved burhani wani and gang repeatedly gave statements to create an Islamic state, do check.

He was rebel commander....You're selling this khilafat sunni muslim state crap at wrong place....this thing/fear/hysteria is popular in west who buys it without any second thought......

People on ground are not gonna believe it...

There is nothing to believe or not believe here, creation of an "Islamic state' was his stated goal.

Nope...His crime was to stand up for Kashmir, a beautiful small valley occupied and terrorized by Indians, a hungry, powerful and many times larger nation...

@Rain Man was right. You get to hear the artificial, slickly manufactured, superbly packaged version brought out by a whole growth industry of propaganda. There is an entire industry built on this. What you will never hear is the students' views, the womens' views, the terror-free villager who feels that the Indian Army is a useful thing to have around.

It is frustrating to know that this agitation is an urban, Islamicised and highly subsidised agitation, and that the bulk of people are not with it, and to hear from outsiders that this is a popular movement which has the ardent support of 99% of the people. hellfire seems to have served there; he seems to know exactly the same things that I do, and equally, from personal experience and interaction. Meanwhile GoI continues to trample all over the place in a witless idiot manner, while Mehbooba Mufti continues to lie her stupid head off, as she is wont to do.

I'll trust your honesty as I believe you are the most unbiased member from India along with hellfire......It can be possible that just like some young folks are admiring ISIS, Wani may have gone through that but his killing just messed up everything...

If people want Indian army in Kashmir...who are guys on protesting, then?

Two points, not entirely connected to your post: first, I really felt awful at Mehbooba Mufti's statement saying that the Indian Army didn't know it was Burhan Wani cornered in that building otherwise they might have given him a chance to live.

That means two bloody awful things.

That means that exceptional people are to be given chances to live, and all others are to be killed even if they surrender.

That also means that he was not given a chance to surrender.

Do you see why I am horrified at her statements? Does she think this is true? If she does, she ought not to be Chief Minister, she ought to resign immediately.

Second, nobody WANTS the Indian Army in civilian areas of Kashmir, including the Indian Army itself. Kashmir is not a desired posting for the Army. What I meant was that in rural Kashmir, away from the hot points of the agitation (I will come to that in a moment), there are many who find the Army downright useful: in terms of employment, in terms of help in schooling, of help in road-making and maintenance and ways like these. There are also (richer) people who find it inconvenient: people who own apple orchards that have been taken over, or who have prime plots that have great tourist potential,and who want to exploit it without people being scared away due to a nearby Army camp. What it means is that far from it being a universally reviled force, it has its bitter opponents and its indifferent symbiotically linked partners. In the towns and cities where the Tehreek is strong, and at checkpoints and road blocks, they are hated. But ironically in such situations, it isn't even the Army; it could be the State Police or the central police forces, either the CRP, the most commonly found, the CISF, who are static guards of secured premises, the BSF, who really should be right on the border, closer to it than the Army, and who are pulled into counter-insurgency activity as an emergent measure.

The kids in town, teenagers in particular, are at the moment quite swept away by the Wani Wave. However, when they aren't, I know of several who have hopes and aspirations quite orthogonal to the direction of the Tehreek.

So who want India out?
  1. A small band around Ali Shah, who are committed to a conservative version of Islam, and who want to merge with Pakistan because Islamic communities belong with each other.
  2. Another group, the moderate Tehreek, cowed into submission by the physical assassination of the previous sad Mirwaiz;
  3. A larger band, who are committed to an independent Kashmir, Hashem Qureshi and the like;
  4. Parties of government employees and small and medium business men who are against staying on in India, and work as the arms and legs of the Tehreek; another set of these are for the status quo;
  5. Journalists and reporters who earn rich sums from their writing for the cause; a minority of the press, those reporting for outside papers and magazines, tend to be unconnected;
  6. Imams from Deoband;
  7. Religiously inclined youth;
  8. Youth in towns,mm free for mischief;
  9. Actual militants or armed supporters.

Using Kashmir Pundits as an excuse to commit Kshmiri genocide ?
Tamils of all ages and from all walks of life have being staging massive protest against Indian occupation of Kashmir but such news don't get mainstream media attention

I will learn more about Kashmir....If Kashmiris don't mind being with India....then all power to them, Pakistan won't stick its bone and accept the Kashmiris decision....

Let the dispute settled once and for all....

Personally, I think we need to do some amelioration. Some of the steps I'd like to see (yes, I know they sound idealistic):
  1. A review by the J&K Assembly of every piece of legislation brought in beyond 1953, for acceptance according to due form, or rejection;
  2. Strong steps to give Kashmiris some economic outlet and job opportunities, at least equal to other parts of India (better than other parts of India would be grossly unfair to the rest of India);
  3. Full exploitation of natural resources, especially hydel, through a subsidiary of the NHPC, NOT through the NHPC itself, which has failed in dismal fashion to do its job, to bring in the prosperity that is available in potential;
  4. Now this one will annoy Pakistanis, but I am putting it down because I think we deserve this edge: a policy of giving good quality Kashmiri students opportunities all over India, in technical lines, engineering, medicine and dentistry, architecture and in service industries;
  5. Protection of Kashmiri students wherever they study anywhere in India, from their own lunatic behaviour;
  6. Strict enforcement of election administration, the way that it is normally done elsewhere in India, not the way it has been done in Kashmir;
  7. Strong management of the Kashmir Police and sidelining of their more violent elements, and withdrawal of the CRP in favour of a differently-recruited and sensitised and trained police;
  8. Introduction of relatively less harmful methods of crowd control and riot management;
  9. Strict action against the thekedars of violence (not the Hurriyat of either faction but the real culprits, those earning livings from continuing violence).
I'd like to see this programme take effect over five years, and then hold a plebiscite in Ladakh, in the Vale and in Jammu. I would offer to the people of the Vale as one option a special status, fully autonomous but for defence, foreign affairs and communications, and policing, constabulary and gendarmerie work by Gurkha direct recruits, and free travel across the LOC and into India, but as ID card holders and subject to strict supervision to ensure that no undercover recruitment takes place by either side's intelligence agencies.

I wonder what would happen.

To be honest...if this thing works out...Pakistanis would be happy. At least Kashmiris will be fine and no more protest or suffering will occur in that beautiful valley...

And I'd like it to be done with Pakistani observers (with proper credentials) in the picture. If we can calm down Kashmir, and return it to the idyllic paradise I remember from 1976-77, and if we can demilitarise Siachen, we would done very well, our generation would have made its mark in history.
