Russian-Chinese wide-body jet to appear within 9-10 years — UAC president

ZHUHAI (China), November 11. /TASS/. The Russian-Chinese wide-body jet will appear on the market within 9-10 years, President of the United Aircraft Corporation (UAC) of Russia Mikhail Pogosyan said on Tuesday.
“We intend to elaborate this project and economic issues related to its implementation soon. Within the next 9-10 years this program should enter the market,” Pogosyan said at the Airshow China 2014 International Aviation & Aerospace Exhibition.

According to him, the flight tests of the plane with a cruising range of 12,000 kilometers and capacity of up to 300 passengers are to be launched in early 2020.

Pogosyan said while the jumbo jet’s front end engineering design is underway, the potential suppliers in the co-operation system for its creation are being determined.

“We have already defined the main requirements for the plane,” the UAC head said.
Russian Deputy Industry and Trade Minister Yuri Slyusar said the Russian-Chinese plane may be brought to the market by 2025. “We plan to bring the plane to the market by 2025. It will perform the first flight on schedule in 2021-22, if I remember correctly,” the deputy minister said.

According to him, the project has already entered the practical implementation stage, getting support both from Moscow and Beijing. “In May next year we are transferring to the next important stage - detailed design. We will show the results of this project,” Slyusar said. He added that that stage would demonstrate the plane’s economic and technical advantages.

The new airliner should be demanded not only on the Russian and Chinese markets. “This project is inexpedient for the market of one country, even such a large country as China,” he said.

too little too late. 10 years til they enter with a wide body, Boeing and Airbus would have eaten up the market share by then :woot:

The world is large enough to have these corporations right now
Airbus has production backlogs. I believe Boeing also has to face the same as Airbus in production

Like these large orders from China alone:

If Bombardier and Embraer have known Airbus and Boeing are there already, they wont establish their own ventures. The same for Mitshibishi, Komsomolsk-on-Amur Aircraft Production Association (Sukoi superjet) ...etc :cheesy:

Countries like India or Vietnam are just not qualified to enter into this prestigious club yeeeett. :fie::dirol:

Russian is also the late comer.

I'm not sure your Russian 'best friends' will be happy with your statement. So better take it back. :D Lol.

Yes you are right though, the Russians are kind of late in this game. I'm surprised they haven't been able to develop a successful passenger jet long ago. For they have been an industrialized country for almost as long as we in the west/U.S. So I would have obviously expected them to have developed one long ago to be honest even Brazil who wasn't that advanced/industralized much later than Russia has a kind of decent/successful passenger jet aircraft/industry than Russia. At least for the Indians and Chinese I can understand, since they opened up/industralized quite late. So in that sense I will agree with you that Russia is indeed late. If not for the fact that there is a huge potential market(I.e China and maybe in future India) for this aircraft, then I will assume it would have been doomed before it even starts. :p:

Brazil is technologically reliant to the West, of course you guys have nothing to worry about them.

:what: Russians, or rather Soviets, had many successful passenger jets for decades. Their Tu-104 was the first jet powered passenger jet to regularly be in scheduled service. Their Tupolevs and Ilyushins use to be in service in many airlines and a lot of them still fly today. They've just been dormant because of the end of the USSR.

wait, what are you talking about? Boeing and Airbus has almost 100% of the market now of big commercial airliners, you mean 10 years later when the Sino -Russian jet comes out Boeing and Airbus will have 150% market share or something? Please elaborate.

In addition to the plane ,there are talks for joint production of helicopter.Guess hardest part will be agreement of various parameters of the plane/helicopter.Once everything is done i have no doubts we will see them flying in few years.Russia and China have enough experience, giant manufacturing base and talented people-both plane and helicopter will be build. As for markets-in addition of domestic markets will be lots of customers in South America,Africa and Asia.

Better late than never:dance3:, maybe your children and grand children will ride "MADE in CHINA" plane in the future.:smitten:

Joint projects with Russia always end up failing. Just look at the joint mars mission.
