Facebook profiles show Kalyan youth’s radicalisation, ‘marriage’

Well, I guess Indian parents across all religions are kinda similar in this regard. Tend to equate drinking and smoking with immoral/abhorrent behaviour.

No it is not that. Even a normal irreligious teen like my niece actually abhors the idea of drinking and smoking. So that was not my point. Too much of religiousity in Hinduism is not noted to cause any harm, in the sense that at the max the kids will join a religious order like ISKCON or some Guru, may be wean out of it in some time or may be not. But nothing beyond that. I would not have to worry of her becoming too distant. Whereas even moderately religious kids in Islam tend to go off their rockers. They stop watching movies, shun all materialism, despise idols and photos, talk only of prayers, and even start despising their fellow beings for being on the wrong path.

All this I have never noticed in any of our religious people. They remain genial and people friendly.

I went through the profile and the Facebook pages mentioned. They are all up.. it gave me the chills man..

His wife justifying blowing up and many people who have joined IS liking her posts....

Man this shit is crazy...

plz post those facebook pages.

The Facebook profile of Areeb Majeed, the 23-year-old civil engineering student from Kalyan who is believed to have died fighting alongside the Islamic State in Iraq and Syria (that now calls itself IS), shows his gradual radicalisation and admiration for the organisation.

Another Facebook account created under his alleged nom de guerre Abu Ali Al Hindi claims he got married to a Palestinian girl, Tahira. This girl’s Facebook profile has a picture of Areeb holding a gun and standing in front of an IS flag as well as another picture of his that is labelled the ‘Bird of Jannat (Paradise)’, indicating he is dead.

While the authenticity of the Abu Ali Al Hindi Facebook profile as well as that of Tahira could not be verified, Areeb’s friends have confirmed the Facebook profile in his own name was authentic and created by him when in India.

Tahira’s Facebook profile says she got engaged to Abu Ali Al Hindi on April 1, and that they got married on July 31. Considering Areeb went to Iraq in May, the account does not clarify how they met, or whether they met online.

Incidentally, Areeb’s friends on his original Facebook page are also associated with the profile that is supposed to be of his wife.

Areeb’s original Facebook profile shows that while he was always religious, he started becoming increasingly radicalised in mid-2013. The Indian Express has confirmed that around this time, Areeb, a decent student, also started faltering in his studies.

Areeb’s family has told The Indian Express that the 23-year-old was called Areeb, and not Arif, the name used in both police records and in an online tribute supposedly to him by Ansar ul-Tawhid, an Indian jihadi group believed to be active along the Pakistan-Afghanistan border.

In October 2013, on his Facebook page, Areeb put up pictures suggesting the community should rise against the “injustices” it was facing. “Ummah Bleeding Ummah Sleeping,” a poster on his page says.

He also posted about the need for a Caliphate and urged the community to unite under a single banner. “Khilafah Unite as one Ummah,” the post states. He also posted pictures of the IS flag.

His last post from India was on March 27, in which he wrote, “All those clothes in your cupboard and you don’t get to choose what to wear in the grave.” The quote was attributed to ‘Abu Walid’. In Islamist militant circles, Abu Walid was an emir who died fighting the Russians in Chechnya.

Areeb was also active on a social platform floated by his collegemates, and in one post, he advises a friend that he could overcome his sexual desires by keeping his mind occupied, praying and keeping the company of pious men. He also advised collegemates to marry early to avoid “sinful thoughts”.

It's funny how his parents were saying that he is such a sweet and peace-loving boy and could never do such a thing. Typical Indian Muslims I guess.

Thats last sentence is not necessary .For every parents their childrens are sweet no matter how they become like this.
Dont give a religious colour for it.

Either way, it was pretty stupid of them not to notice any changes in his behaviour or buying into his lies(assuming he did).

One disturbing trend that I saw in many parents around me was that they mistook the über-religious kids as paragons of virtue. Maybe his parents too began to assume that he was maturing into a fine virtuous and 'God-fearing' young man. :hitwall:

Or might their family reputation. Most of parents will try to avoid such behaviour of their childrens and dont take effort to find out its root cause .They will fear about their kids next reactions and also the bad name for family.

This ISIS was not so popular like al Qaeda or taliban:how could this traitor have joined it?

I don't know of any parents whome will say otherwise- in that sense you are right in saying typical muslim parents-

Damn and these are supposed to be the educated and the progressive lot :hitwall::hitwall: sure can imagine about the illiterate, poor and the vulnerable ones

I would not worry too much if a child in my house became uber-religious as long as it is Hinduism. Neither do I believe that will in any way spoil her life or make her abnormal. I would worry about the same if the religion was Islam.

What type of hindus are those lady?-
Only few examples

LOL. Yeah what you showed were perhaps "Hindus" from India but not the uber-religious Hindus. You need to learn to make a difference between those who are born in a Hindu household and hence claim Hinduness and those who become religious or even uber-religious. Both are not synonymous. There are political activist Hindus and there are religious Hindus.

This is what religious Hindus actually do.

The term " you should need to learn the difference " is funny- specially coming out of some one who just have made a sweeping statement about another religion-
How about practice what you preach and learn the difference between extremist claiming to be muslims and pious practicing muslims that still are in overwhelming majority-

Your hypocritical attitude is stupid to say the least-

And No I will not cooy paste some of the good things pious ubber muslims do- that be back foot stuff-- right now I have my other links ready- front foot drive :yay:-

Nah you should learn the difference. Even the extremist Muslims are uber-religious Muslims. They do all the works, 5 times namaz and what not. The same does not happen in Hinduism. You will be hard pressed to find many Hindus who actually know their religion, leave alone practice it. Hardly any Hindu reads their scriptures or does the regular puja. It is only the very religious who tend to do all these.
