Pakistan Army is a Muslim National Army. Pakistan was founded on Islam and when its Army fights it keeps both Islam and ntionhood in its heart and mind. That means all Pakistani citizens irrespective of religion can enlist in the Army and serve the country. But Islam will remain the driver whether some like it or not. Pakistani naion still evolving. It will take more time when Pakistan will become a mature nation and country.
In the battle of Baveeb against Iran, arab Christians fought alongside Muthna bin Haritha Shaibani. Islam is not gainst ehnic and nationalistic love, only against injustice against people on the basis of ehnicity and background.

Pal solider is enough stop using Muslim, Hindu, Sunni Shia etc no body gives a dam besides it this title

For those who think, Pakistan army is secular.

To have faith and trust in Allah and consider oneself:-

  • A follower of none but Allah.
  • And a follower of none but his messenger.
The concept of “no deity except Allah” is always alive in the Muslim’s heart. A Muslim recognizes that Allah alone is the Creator; their He alone is the Provider and Sustainer that He is the true Reality, the source of all things of all benefits and harms. This requires that He alone be worshiped and obeyed. “No deity except Allah” also includes the question of authority as the right to govern belongs to the One Who created him.
Belief in Allah’s messenger means accepting Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) as the last messenger sent by Him. Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) is the spokesman for God by His authority. The duty of Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) was not only to deliver the message which Allah revealed but also to explain it and put it into practice as an example to be followed by mankind.

Taqwa

Taqwa signifies:-
  • The fear of Allah.
  • Guarding ones tongue, hands and heart from evil.
  • Righteous, piety and good conduct.

Taqwa connotes the sense of protecting oneself from moral peril, preserving one’s virtue, and guarding oneself against the displeasure of Almighty. It is, thus, a kind of awareness or consciousness by means of which one protects oneself from sliding into evil.

Jihad-fi-Sabilillah

The real objective of Islam is to shift the lordship of man over man to the lordship of Allah on the earth and to stake one's life and everything else to achieve this sacred purpose. The Arabic word “Jihad” means to struggle “or” to strive. In as much as “Jihad” is a struggle, it is a struggle against all that is perceived as evil in the cause of that which is perceived good, a cosmic and epic struggle spanning time and all dimensions of human thought and action, and transcending the physical universe. The Islamic Law regulates declaration of Jihad as also the limitations are imposed on its conduct. In Chapter II verse 190 of The Holy Quran the reference to the duty of the Muslims to “fight in the cause of God those who fight you and be not aggressors. God loveth not those who are aggressors”.

The Muslims when they are engaged in fighting are not to transgress the limits within which war is allowed to be waged and, in principle, they are not to be cruel or become revengeful. The general command to be just and fair is discernible from Chapter V. Verse 8:

Oh, ye who believe
stand out firmly for God as witness
To fair dealings,
And let not the hatred of other people to you
make you swerve to wrong and depart from justice.
Be just, that is next to piety. And fear God,
Surely, Allah is aware of what you do

Pakistan army is an army of the Islamic republic of Pakistan that has more than 99% Muslims soldiers...And the operation Zard-e-Azb is the named after one of the swords of the Holy Prophet (ﷺ). Similarly, I heard one of the largest exercises in PA's history was named as Zarb-e-Mo'min
This athiest has served his country better than millions of his Muslim countrymen. The faith or other background shouldn't matter as much. Love for the motherland should.
What did he do other than serving on the boarders as the OP says. He did and still doing what half a million plus personnel (99% Muslims) of PA are doing. He did not sacrifice his life for the sake of nation...so I'm wondering why did you use the opportunity to bash the rest of the country? Instead we should admire his service to the nation..anyone who is doing his job honestly in Pakistan is a mujahid and should be respected for this reason alone regardless he or she is in the military or a civilian institution.

So what if he is atheist. We have always been an army that hasbtaken great pride in the achievements of our minorities in the same ilk as we take pride in the acheivements of our majorities. I would call anyone a brother that would mean well and do well for pakistan irrespective of religion and I would never call them brothers who only wish to harm this country irrespective of whether they are Muslims or not.

The thing is our history books and pak studies books need to glorify soldiers from minorities who fought for Pakistan and gave their lives. Just bcz the country was formed on the basis of Islam doesn't mean we forget the sacrifices of our minorities.

And if you feel any less pride at his achievements just bcz he is an atheist then the only one who needs guidance from the heaven is your hatred filled mind and heart.

I take issue with this inability to separate logically one thing from another. Recognising this man's contribution to the nation as an atheist, is not the same thing as unrecognised the same done by Muslims or any other religion.

These can be mutually exclusive positions, so please tell me why so many people that have a problem with atheism in this thread and make it so?

And I'm not bashing the country, I'm saying religion is not always a metric for a judge of a man, especially this man who has no religion, yet there are many Muslims in the country, some who are as great as him, and some who gave their lives for the country. Yet others are those, Muslims too, who've only robbed the country blind, wronged their country men or contributed nothing.

Each man's contribution is his own regardless of his religion, this man's lack of religion takes nothing away from his service in my opinion.

Maybe you should pay attention to the point being made rather than jumping to these conclusions that you've arrived at, that I've never intended you to arrive at. Each man's contribution is his own regardless of his religion, this man's lack of religion takes nothing away from his service in my opinion.
Well, am not religious person , but when look at life of Holy Prophet PBUH , for 40 years he only emphasis and practice virtue and morality nothing else and now ..............

Does it matter if he's atheist or not? he's serving this country with full loyalty to Pakistan only that's what matters to me imo.
No, leave it to Allah. Religion between him and allah.

a hardcore atheist, like one who won't swear on the quran or chant any religious slogans while others do ?
