Chinese diplomat and Rauf Klasra in bitter tweeting match over CPEC

If it is so profitable, who else would invest $50 billion assuming China pull out of CPEC? China One belt One Road covers all Central Asia and Russia, not just Pakistan. The major trade route and oil pipeline are via Central Asian states and Russia. Just putting things into perspective.

Ideally, we are all want clean energy, but how many countries can afford it? 33% of US electricity still comes from coal alone. Another 30% from natural gas.
China because it is in that particular location..if any other country was in the similar location and relations with Pakistan...it would do something like that. Do you want to say Chinese govt is investing in loss?

No developed country is installing new coal power projects...They are using because they already have but at the same time, they are closing them down gradually and replacing them with renewables. However Pakistan is starting now so it must begin on right footing. The impact of the coal powered plants on environment will be devastating for local ecology and it will be net loss....People suffering with different respiratory diseases will outdo any benefits from the coal powered electricity. Also the myth of coal being cheaper has been busted. Coal and fossil power plants, in developed countries, have been heavily subsidised from the beginning and they have recovered their investment so they are cheaper for them but still due to the impact and CO_2 emissions, the developed countries are closing them down gradually and by 2030 Europe will be free of coal powered plants.

China's investment in CPEC has both dimensions, its friendship but also it is a good business proposition and don't try to force us in believing otherwise.

China is in multiple locations, refer to the map. No business/govt would invest to lose, but all profit comes with risk. Do you want to say Pakistan is very lucrative for foreign investor? Investment and trade are made because both party has something to gain. It's not zero sum.

Can Pakistan afford to go 100% all renewable? When Pakistan becomes energy independent, it can invest more in renewable and reduce fossil.

Hey don't start calling everyone idiot.. perhaps you should act upon your suggestion yourself. Rauf Klasra is one of the best journalists in Pakistan and a very patriotic person... and I totally side with Rauf Klasra, coal is being closed everywhere in the world including China. and China itself installing huge wind farm and has the largest world's largest wind power installed capacity leaving USA behind in dust, similarly China is investing in solar, nuclear and hydroelectric power generations...furthermore. China is not a role model for environmental planning as most of its major cities suffer with extreme polluted atmosphere and recently we had smog covering Lahore and areas of Punjab for a few weeks, now double the concentration and perpetuate that to get the glimpse of air in some of the major cities in China. ....
Pak and China are doing cooperation on equality basis and Pakistan should not be selling its autonomy to any country...CPEC is a profitable deal both for Pakistan and especially for China thus Pakistanis should keep that in mind and do not let any country to dump its old and obsolete junk into Pakistan. I totally support Rauf Klasra..

If China or Pakistan power station charge you 3times the amount of electricity fee compare to coal generated. Are you going to paid for it. How many Pakistanis are willing to paid 3 times the amount of electricity bill generated by solar or wind mill compare to coal?

China too when poor started with coal generated electricity. It is only when we get rich and country become stronger than we switch to cleaner energy. Develop country must be practical.

Do Pakistan has the budget of China or USA?
It easy to talk abt cleaner energy but when comes to charging the fee and installation. You armchair General has no answer.

Klasara being a Pakistani have the right to know the answers, but getting personal is where i disagree... Plus People who have no knowledge about the subject matter need to keep quite, as they will get nothing except making fools of themselves.... Chinese labours are working in Pakistan on CPEC thats understandable, but its also hard to believe that all work force employed are Chinese... People working in Multi National Co's/Projects know that its always a ratio involved with regards to local employees vs guest labours...

I personally wanted these questions to be raised but not by tucchi media on Twitter. Instead, Govenment should have asked these things in start of the projects. It's a shame that a tuccha journalist is misbehaving with representative of a Country which we considers as our Friend. Totally pathetic behaviour of our "Free Media".

So a Pakistani asks why locals are not being given the jobs and other Pakistani conclude the Pakistani asking the question has an agenda. Only in Pakistan !

I don't know his background, but did he ever provide any evidence for his claim that China is importing 100% of labor from China?

That doesn't seem like a realistic figure. Even a made up false figure shouldn't be that high, that's taking it a big step beyond simple exaggeration.

Right to question and intentionally spreading malicious lies are 2 different things. I seriously doubt his intention.
It's a good thing ... Eventually the truth comes out and the ill intentioned or ignorant party is recognised... Win win.

All the chinese Diplomat had to do was to provide him the percentage of labors working from pakistan and in what capacity. There was no need to beat about the bush.

$5-7 billion infrastructure investment in one year easily will boost the GDP growth by 2-3% ( for an economy sized $250 billion).. If cement, sand etc bought from Pakistan, that was a big boost for local industries..His questions are in right direction.. Govt should publish the numbers regarding CPEC..
There is nothing known as investment it all loan being taken from china to built CEPEC.

There is no beating around the bush, it was a straight-up red faced lie. And not even a believable one at that.

We should look into who or which country funds this fellow

Exactly..but money may be going into offshore accounts held in third person name..so first he needs to be watched closely by intelligence..and then all his close associates needs to be investigated...

Hes an excellent and experienced journalist...

He is an excellent and experienced idiot...!

Klasra idiotic on CPEC. Needs to have mental checkup!

Pakistani media is a wild dog and needs to be put on a leash...

CPEC is being turned into a political scandal which will deter investment not only from Chinese but also from several other foreigners...Attitudes like these are the reason why totalitarian regimes are fast on progress....because they dont shy away from silencing useless critics with brute force..!

There is nothing known as investment it all loan being taken from china to built CEPEC.

Exactly..and in this case...Chinese owe us nothing..we took the loan..and we build it...CPEC is not exclusive to China..
