Kho People of Chitral

One question.

How different Khowar is different from other languages of GB like Shina or Wakhi or Balti etc?

Are they different dialects of same language or they are completely different languages altogether?

Anyways great to have a member from Chitral.
Khowar is a different language and we don't understand Shina, Wakhi or Balti language and vice versa. To say how much they are different I think they are very different and like Urdu and English. They are not like Urdu and Hindi.

We speak Khowar.
Jum sher, Matey dey Khowar goyan.
Yess!
My great grandfather (Shah Nadir Raees) empire stretched all the way to Gilgit and I also read somewhere that the (Raees) who also ruled Gilgit are connected to our family (Mir-raees).
People of chitral sometimes refer to some people as kho as a disparaging term and I've no idea what's that all about lol.
Are you also from Chitral? Can you speak Khowar?

Thanks for the share (&tag @Areesh ).
Nice to know about the community.
I might be mistaken here, but looks like Kho community has lineage to Mongols and/or Central Asian ethnic groups.
Please do share more information on this.

Cute ones. :smitten:
Yes we have and you can see it in the looks.

Great info. Pakistanis especially of the older generations are extremely illiterate as far as the diversity of this country is concerned. Hopefully the newer generations can undo this trend as we grow increasingly closer through the internet whilst physical connectivity is also increasing due to the construction of motorways and tunnels. I know a lot of people now who are venturing further and further north in their holidays.

Ive met people in Lahore/PU who thought Quetta was in Afghanistan...

This is very serious if what you say is true. Not knowing the regional languages ( still very serious) is one thing but not knowing Quetta the capital of Baluchistan is beyond ignorance. I mean for goodness sake the newspaper covers incidents happening in Quetta. I read the newspapers. The thing is this is taught in schools unlike the regional cultures and languages of Pakistan. Very shocking bcz in my interaction in PU people know a lot about Pakistan and its issues. . Parhay likhay jahil the lot you met I guess.

I work in PU and have lived 22 years of my life in Punjab University in fact was born here but now they would know because in past few years under former VC Mujahid Kamran. Quota of 1 seat in every department for every class I mean for BSC and MSC and MPHIL and PHD was started for Baluch students. So now they are in hundreds.
