Turks were an empire when they had non secular people at helm, reduced to mere puppets of west by seculars who followed.

Why dont you explain to me out of your wisdom as to what a so called "Islamist" was doing sitting in the lap of yanks, who mind you wont spare any efforts to smoke out real Islamists working for political Islam in their respective regions, and his so called "Islamist" followers will coup for protecting Turkey "secular" credentials?

We in Pakistan can suss this bullsh|t from million miles, just because of what we have been through in past decade or so.

The Ottoman empire was a major world power until the end of 17th century when it's real decline started. At a time when other European nations were already colonizing bigger and bigger parts of the New world, at times when they were developing faster than ever with culture, education, trade and even basic forms of manifacturing they were already ahead of us by that time. At that time our sultans were only thinking about their palaces, their conquests, their brides and their treasury while the Empire was lagging behind in it's feudal form or government.

The distance between them and us was getting bigger and bigger with times until we started losing territory, after territory, after territory and by the beginning of the 19th century we were already the "Sick man of Europe". In the 19th century Britain, France and later the German Empire, the Russian empire, Austria- Hungary, the USA, Italy were all big military, industrial, scientific, cultural powers that we were very far behind to even match their force. Japan later joined them because they did modernize their society rapidly, because they saw that with keeping their feudal mindset they will never be a major power. They modernized their minds first, and after that their country. In the 19th century for example Britain, France, Germany had a developed banking sector, industry that was producing things used all around the world, they were making scientific discoveries that changed the world, they were developing their transport, their cities and etc. while we were still living in basically a feudal state where Turks/Muslims were kept as a bunch of potential soldiers to go die for the empire or just peasants living the life their ancestors were living hundreds of years ago. Christians and Jews in the empire were controlling the whole underdeveloped economy of the Empire. This Empire was basically a laughing stock, a state stucked in the past. Some of the last Sultans tried to change some things but it was too little too late...

On the other hand Mustafa Kemal- a boy born in the European part of the Empire, a boy with his own opinion, a vision and sharp brain turned into a great man and the biggest leader in our history that basically saved us all when we were about to get finally destroyed - he was a SECULARIST. He was a guy with a progressive way of thinking, a guy that pushed us into the 20th century, a man under which control we managed to unite, to develop, to become a country that was an example for the whole developing world. We were a nation on the edge of destruction with lands occupied by most major world powers and most of our enemies. He managed to organize us to fight and push them back so we continued to one of the few nations that has never been conquered. Even now he is the most respected and loved man in this country, that's why he is called Ataturk- the father of the Turks. So here is an example of a secular leader that made his Muslim country stronger, a country that was not a puppet but a pain in the a** for western powers.

Thinking that the Islam, the Quran, the Sharia and praying 5 times a day is the way to solve all problems of a country is the thing that will keep us behind.

Why would the US hand him over, it might be the one who actually sponsored it covertly. If any country houses people which US seeks then it violates that country's sovereignty to get to those targets, however if they (culprits) are on the list of other states then US has no problem in extending them asylum and protection. It's only a matter of time till the world goes multi polar and other powers like China or perhaps even Turkey bring an end to this evil states antics world over.
You're right, America doesnt act fare towards its allies ut has doubl standards, they always made up excuses and try to hide its crimes but, this time Fethullah is caught red handed they should hand him over.

Turkey is a secular country you morons will never learn what secularism is...

A muslim President in charge in a muslim country does not mean that this country has sharia laws..

As being a pro-AK Party citizen i and 99% of the rest of pro-Govt citizens of Turkey dont want to have sharia laws..

Keep your disinformation to yourself

Your hero should be the Suleiman the magnificent, NOT a secular Ataturk. Its a defeatist mentality to worship those who were hanging by straws as oppose to those who brought the glory in real terms. The two men were poles apart, Islamist Vs secularist. Sorry to burst your bubble but from outside, the impression of Ataturk is of some one who made his country a sidekick of western civilization, far from being a pain the backside. Having said that, todays Turkey under current leadership is moving in right direction. That why its heartening to see that Turks have resisted this secular coup with full force.

Reading Quran, praying 5 times are individual acts, they are not related how the state should work. That is where the Islamic socialism or as they say "Sharia" (way of life) comes into play. It is the most misunderstood concept or shall I say, a deliberate confusion created around it. The best way to understand it, its to look and study how the first state in Madina functioned.
