Ankara defends ISIS, Turkish officials have financial interest in oil trade with group - PM Medvedev
Published time: 25 Nov, 2015 06:53

Some Turkish officials have ‘direct financial interest’ in the oil trade with the terrorist group Islamic State, Russian PM Dmitry Medvedev said as he detailed possible Russian retaliation to Turkey’s downing of a Russian warplane in Syria on Tuesday.

“Turkey’s actions are de facto protection of Islamic State,” Medvedev said, calling the group formerly known as ISIS by its new name. “This is no surprise, considering the information we have about direct financial interest of some Turkish officials relating to the supply of oil products refined by plants controlled by ISIS.”

“The reckless and criminal actions of the Turkish authorities… have caused a dangerous escalation of relations between Russia and NATO, which cannot be justified by any interest, including protection of state borders,” Medvedev said.

According to Medvedev, Russia is considering canceling several important projects with Turkey and barring Turkish companies from the Russian market. Russia has already recommended its citizens not to go Turkey citing terrorist threats, which have resulted in several tourist operators withdrawing tours to Turkey from the market.

Russia may further scrap a gas pipeline project, aimed at turning Turkey into a major transit country for Russian natural gas going to Europe, and the construction of the country’s first nuclear power plant.

Turkey shot down a Russian bomber over Syria on Tuesday, claiming it had violated Turkish airspace. Russia says no violation took place and considers the hostile act as 'a stab in the back' and direct assistance to terrorist forces in Syria.

ISIS is producing what 20,000 to 40,000 barrels of oil?? I wouldn't say that a windfall for Turkey or worth getting outed as a terrorist enabler.

there is something more than oil going on

Russian jet hit inside Syria after incursion into Turkey: U.S. official
WASHINGTON -

The United States believes that the Russian jet shot down by Turkey on Tuesday was hit inside Syrian airspace after a brief incursion into Turkish airspace, a U.S. official told Reuters, speaking on condition of anonymity.

The official said that assessment was based on detection of the heat signature of the jet.

Please note that the SU-24 downed over Syria was unarmed against F-16 of Turkish Air Force.

Likely response from Russia:

1. Minimize military-to-military communication

2. Cut the flow of Russian tourists

Several Russian tourism companies have already cancelled travel packages to Turkey.

3. Intensify air strikes in the border areas held by groups supported by Turkey-US

4. Deploy missile cruisers to monitor Syrian air space and respond in kind to Turkish fighters at the first instance they violate Russia's airspace or come dangerously close to Russian forces.

6. Reduce the flow of natural gas and cancel energy projects, including the Turkish Stream, which is a good news for Ukraine.

Turkey's Downing Russian Jet 'Had to Be Pre-Planned' - Retired US General

Turkey's move to shoot down a Russian jet may have been a provocation by the Turkish president, who has a hidden agenda in the Syrian conflict, according to former US Air Force general Thomas McInerney.

Turkey's move to shoot down the Russian Su-24 bomber had to have been pre-planned by Turkey's President Recep Tayyip Erdogan to drive a wedge between Russia and NATO, former Assistant Vice Chief of Staff of the US Air Force, Lt. Gen. Thomas McInerney told Fox News.

According to McInerney, the attack was pre-planned by Turkey's president to drive a wedge between Russia and NATO and foil their potential cooperation in Syria, where Turkey is opposed to the Kurdish factions supported by the US.

"I think the intentional provocation may have been by Turkey's President Erdogan. Turkey has been a very secular nation, but he has driven it towards an Islamic society with Sharia law, et cetera. And so I think he may have a hidden agenda. He probably would not mind seeing Russia and NATO get into another conflict like we had in the Ukraine, which we do not need," the retired US Air Force general said.

According to McInerney, who took Turkish claims that the Russian plane entered Turkish territory at face value, the plane would not have been over Turkish territory long enough for its maneuvers to be seen as offensive.

"This airplane was not making any maneuvers to attack the territory. It was probably pressing the limits, that's fair. But you don't shoot 'em down just because of that," McInerney said.

McInerney is a former commander of NORAD's Alaskan Air Command, and cited situations in which Russian strategic bombers occasionally strafed into US air space, but were not shut down.

how much does a oil tanker cost in the Middle East?? I would bet they lost all the profit they have made this year when Russia and U.S coalition jets blew up those 1000 oil tankers.

Checkmate!!! S400 will have at least a squadron F16 as a revenge. Now Turkey not only invited Russian irks but also gave a big fat license for placing Russia's most advanced weaponries in Syria. Soon Syria not only be free from ISIS but gonna become major strategic Russian military base in the region.

Turkey is now a done deal. With guided missile destroyers S400 been deployed it will pay way for Very advanced air superiority fighters against Turks.

Turkish Socialist party member Gursel Tekin has established that Daesh’s (ISIS) smuggled oil is exported to Turkey by BMZ, a shipping company controlled by none other than Bilal Erdogan, son of “Sultan” Erdogan. At a minimum, this violates UN Security Council resolution 2170. Under the light of Putin’s message of going after anyone or any entity engaged in facilitating Daesh’s operations, Erdogan’s clan better come up with some really good excuses.

Erdogan is pure reckless. He thinks Turkey is the modern Ottoman empire that spread across whole middle-east and east europe. In fact, it occupied only a small area in the center of Asia and Europe. Turkey is a small power that cannot afford to stand up against the big bear.

One thing is for sure Pakistanis will always be against Russians. Indians and Chinese always stand with our brothers in Russia.

Think of a world where Russia China India stands together in defending each other?
Highly unlikely

Turkey is a done deal. More over NATO game play in the region is been check matted

Turkey seems to put a lot of faith on NATO, especially the US.

In their mind, Turkish officials might be hoping to pit Russia against the West and get out of this unscathed, and maybe a few thousands sqm land from Syria.

Very extreme, dangerous and unrealistic dreams.
