Egypt will buy China 071 dock landing ship

I think Egypt shall switch tank, the export M1A1 proves miserable performance in Yemen war by the Saudi. American usually export downgrades weapons to allies. Even Israel upgrade their own F-15, F-16 with their own avionic becos American downgraded the radar for export.

this is just wrong yeah they downgrade some parts for export users , but don't ever judge a tank by such street wars , no tank made till this day can survive what the abrams and russian T series faced in this kind of wars

The american brag about separate weapon compartment could save tank crew compare to T-72. See for yourself how M1A1 cook up, same as T-72 with the additional weight useless separate weapon compartment.

first time to see that happened to the abrams , but still i think it's a better tank than 90s era russian tanks , i like t-90 ms except it's additional exterior fuel tanks

not a miserable tank more like miserable tactics

you could give the Sauds the most advance tanks in the world and they would still be destroyed.

that being said why buy a 8 million dollar tank when you can 2.5 T-72B3s instead.

Why they wants to buy this aren't they buying mistral??

This will strengthen Egypte as much as it will burden it economically. The maintenance of these naval ships are through the roof. Combine this with the 2 Mistral-Class LHD the Egyptian navy will receive, it will most definitly become a hurdle in the relative thight budget of the armed forces.

I can foresee some problems such as
- Egypte either will increase its defence budget(it must on the long run) which is not that very smart considering their stagnated economy.

- They dont have the neccesary escort warships for a battle group. Egyptian navy would need 2/3 seperate battle groups all need assigned with defensive warhips. Egypte doesnt have that currently, meaning that it will most likely try to acquire some. This in turn will raise maintenance costs and overal expenditure whilst still having a stagnating economy.

- The warships need neccesary equiptment such as LST, helicopters, land vehicles for beach landing and such. This would also need to be purchased alongside the several dosens needed for the mistrall class LHD's.

lol, why the tank being hit by that ATGM in the first place? The tank is not moving at all. You usually do a J-turn after you see the incoming threat, and they just did nothing, like target practices.

Make me wonder if there are actually anyone inside that thing.

they didn't see the threat!! you rarely do in ambush style tactics

And 4 Gowind corvettes,and 2 (?) Type 209 subs,and possible (?) 50 Kamov helicopters and 46 Mig 35's.:o:

50 Ka-52s is confirmed , they are now thinking of expanding the order to 80 , 30 going towards the Mistral

a crew makes up a tank not the opposite, as for Abrams being downgraded , The DU layers are top secret and no surprise they don't export it with that option, any other country would do the same

otherwise , Saudi and Egyptian Abrams are still very good , they have the same FCS , Battle Management systems and etc.

if you have money , you can get the best , Saudis currently have the most advanced F-15s in service

The missile travelled about 11 second before impact. If you would have put out a 360 scan, you would have pick up the threat 2 to 3 seconds after launch (You can't quite miss a missile with flame coming out of the back coming toward you)

That give the tank crew 5 to 8 second to dodge.......I don't know about Abrams, but you can easily dodge that in a Bradley...

Let's ask @Davos he is a Abrams gunner

I believe it will not be out of the following 3 scenarios:
1- Egyptian Armed Forces Budget is much more than that officially announced...and they can know what to buy and how much the maintenance costs.

2- Egypt has strategic threats that needs to handle them so quickly regardless of the price as this will save the existence of Egypt it self.

3-during the last 15 years no advanced toys supplied to the Egyptian Army so there is pretty much savings that can support the arming spree. ( I support this scenario )

The article is originally from a blog, so I think it is questionable.
I do not mean it is impossible, but if Saudi wants to buy type 071 for Egypt, why only Saudi Navy Chief has come but not with a single Egyptian officer accompanying.
Well, this visiting takes 3 days, and the Naval commander of Saudi had taken a look at type 071 LPD, type 04 amphibious armored vehicle, type 054A and type 22 missile boat, so it is reasonable to think that Saudi wants to buy something, but for Egypt? I don't think so.
