Vietnam politics

Northern Vietnamese are more Pro China while the South are Pro USA

North Vietnam gaining economic ascendancy

The Pro USA Southern faction got a lot of voice in economy as everyone thinks the Southerners understand capitalism better. While the pro USA PM Nguyen Tan Dung is apparently the most powerful man in Vietnam, there is an important long term trend that may reverse the power of South Vietnam faction.

I have followed the Vietnam economy for some time. Before it was the South Vietnamese despising the poor north and keep bragging that the South are smarter, more hardworking and know capitalism better.

This trend has reverse and economic clout started to move north -- even under the eyes of the Southern faction who manage Vietnam economy.

Link below show North received about 17% of FDI while the rest goes to South during early 2000s.

Thai Nguyen, Bac Ninh, Hanoi, Hai Phong, Quang Ninh, Hai Duong are in the North while the rest are in the South. As we can see, the North are getting more FDI.

Also the North are getting the high tech FDI like electronics, while the South get textile and oil and gas. In other words, the North are under going quality industrialization.

Thanks to China

Why is the North undergoing industrialization under the nose of the Southern bureaucrats? Reason being, the North are close to China supply chain Guangdong.

If the economics trend continue, the Northern guys will gain more power. China just need to wait and to help the Northern faction to prevent the South from doing a color revolution in Vietnam.

I read in many post that VN people buy and sell with gold..
problem is whether you have sufficient gold to support your economy..
China suffered a lot due to lack of expensive metal like gold or silver in history..
And VN is not producing any gold. Right?

I dont think so. Chinese has anexperiences about gold and silber from long time ago in your history. The gold is good for the people in time of hight inflation and in the wars for the reserve only. For the developmence of the country, gold should play less importance than other hard currency like US$, EU currency or Japanese Yuan,...

Vietnam has produced gold but very small in quantity. Its reported that around 500 ton of gold is hold by household owner in Vietnam.

I said again, u r not an expert, so pls stop talking nonsense. Pls read again my previous post.

What China usually use in history is actually copper..
Later to Ming and Qing, the silver become popular..
Gold is not popular until very recent time like 100 years ago.
Inflation is something related to paper money, which is only common within 100 years.
A stable paper money system would be best practice for the economy.
Yet no government can deny the attractiveness of printing money.

very funny statement. why north Vietnamese become pro China when the factory is built by Korean ? Who know to where this products should be exported, it is not related to Viets.

I´m afraid you are delusional. do you think you are better off if some sorts of revolution happen in vietnam?
learn history.

in the transition from the Ho to the Le dynasty: we crushed and annexed champa in the south, controlled the south china sea in the west, annihilated the Ming army in the north, subjugated all western neighbors from laos, cambodia and siam. our army even reached as far as burma. the malaysians feared to death when we knocked on their doors.

from Tay son to the Ngyuen: we destroyed the Qing army in the northern front, annihilated the siamese naval fleet in the south, ended the siamese dominance in the western front laos and cambodia. the rise of Thailand to a regional dominant power ended before it began.

and China? the fate of the Ming and Qing ended terribly, you should know, after the defeats in vietnam.

To be honest, we cant really say for sure if hes corrupt or not. Politicians are very cunny people(reason i NEVER believe a politician EVER). However, you shouldnt feel that bad, since as much as Chinese members here bash Vietnam and VCP their own CCP isnt any different to be honest, they are aso corrupt to the core.lol The only difference might be that Vietnamese corrupt officials might be dealing in the millions(due to their smaller economy) while Chinese CCP officials deal in the billions.lol Remember Vietnam is a mini/little China. :enjoy::china:

Vietnam has little to do with Chinese. Overseas Chinese born in Vietnam don't consider themselves Vietnamese at all.

Right, people r seeing another reform (or transition to a stronger system ) in VN , of course it will have some risk, but its surely will make VN to become stronger.

VN just build a powerful tank center in Battambang province in Cambodia, and its very near Bangkok of ThaiLand. Lots of VNese r dreaming abt the day to unify the sub-Mekong region now, so who knows what will happen durign our political transition. Maybe it will look like the transition from the Ho to the Le dynasty in our history :pop:

......
Our tank center in Battambang just abt 300km from Bangkok of Thailand, u guys can see VN and Kam military officers smile happily at each other, many Kam gens. also r VNese :pop:

There is no coincidence why currency crisis occur in Vietnam. Vietnamese corruption is far far worse than China, and worse, Vietnam lack of a group of patriotic elites, unlike China. In China, never mind how corrupt officials can be, most of them are reasonably patriotic.

In Vietnam, PM Nguyen Tan Dung sworn aim is to convert the country into Oligarchy, and he being the family to control Vietnam, though manipulating elections.

PM Nguyen has now accumulate incredible amount of wealth. But the thing that send chills under my spine is his son-in-law is former Goldman Sachs alumni cum USA citizen. Henry Nguyen, son in law of PM is now among Vietnam largest capitalist heading a venture fund.

I agree with the first part of your comment ,it's true that Chinese elites /corrupt officials are still relatively more competent/skilled than their Vietnamese counterparts.

However, saying Vietnamese VCP officials are more corrupt than their Chinese CCP counterparts is not entirely correct , nor are they more inclined to have foreign passports /link with illegal foreign assets. I will even say Chinese CCP officials have embezzled wayyyyy more than VCP officials can ever dream of, though it's also due to the fact that China has a far bigger economy /capital, so the cake for these corrupt CCP officials is far bigger than that of VCP . AS i said, if VCP deals in millions then their CCP counterparts deal ibillions. Lool Plus corrupt CCP officials also have alot of illegal foreign assets /investments hidden in the west /U. S(not like we mind though, on the contrary they are welcome. Lol) :enjoy:.

One thing that Always surprises me is that, why do developing countries corrupt officials/citizens like China, Russia, Africa, India, Vietnam etc always tend to embezzle their countries money /assets and invest /hide it in the 'evil ' West /U. S or run away to live in the West once they get in trouble ? :what: why don't they go to /keep their ill gotten money in their fellow developing country counterparts? :undecided:

Edit : the answer is HYPOCRISY. Lol

Vietnam has little to do with Chinese. Overseas Chinese born in Vietnam don't consider themselves Vietnamese at all.

As much as you might deny it, I think Vietnam is among the most closest country to China along with Korea, Japan, be it culturally, racially , socially even more so politically etc. :D maybe that's why there is so much bad blood between the little brother and his big brother. :enjoy::pdf:

for the bold parts, Indonesia is too suffer the same conditions before, and right now we are dealing against them with a better way. During Asean economic crisis, Indonesia must bailing out our banking sector and around 65 billion US dollar must be spent by our government (through several desperate measure effort policy running from 1997 to 2001) to save our Banking industrial sector, a large sum for us at the time. But most of the funds is getting embezzled and most of the Bank owner running away to Singapore, Hongkong and so on. But with some negotiations and sacrifice and advice from the South Korean experts, the Government actually given pardon for the bank owner who embezzled the funds and give some insurance to them and their family property safety as long as they want to invest and bring the money back to Indonesia. And then fortunately our conditions is turned much better than what we expect before. For a poor country at the time of Asian Financial crisis, 65 billion US dollar is means a lot for us.....because is constituted for around third of our GDP in 1998.

And for today, Indonesia had a comprehensive anti-corruption law and institution, although not much compared to other advanced countries like Japan, South Korea, Singapore and so on, but we are strive for the better.

Not just among the most closets countries to China, but as I said recently, the closest country and people to China by far, something that should be used as an opportunity for an specially closer relationship and alliance, but big brother prefers to control the little brother and treat him like a client state and little brother resents that.
