With much fanfare Awami Prime minister Hasina inaugurated Indian BHEL built power plant on Feb 14th, 2010. But as with any Indian engineering work power plant broke down just 2 weeks after the inception. Repair attempts has been failed and no one knows how long it will take to repair a brand new power plant made by BHEL. BHEL has been presented as pinnacle of Indian power/energy achievement, now Bangladeshis know what that means.

Can someone else confirm this?

Truly a regrettable and shameful development, if true.

India is a growing manufacturer and regional power, it is imperative that we establish close economic ties with our neighbors, not only for the sake of our economy but for regional stability. We also have to deal with the added burden of a lot of mistrust and bad blood. In such a scenario, if Indian goods are seen as unreliable, it makes it that much easier for the detractors of India to make the case against economic cooperation with who they already see as a belligerent neighbor and pushes our regional ambitions that much farther away.

There have been similar complaints from the Sri Lankans and Nepalese.

At this rate, we will be in no position to compete with China's surging influence all around us. Not to mention how shaky Hasina's position is at the moment, we should have put in extra care and delivered the best product possible. We can win friends in our neighborhood, with money and reliable products.

As I have mentioned in an earlier post somewhere else, Indians cannot be trusted. I also said that the bigot Indians with no knack for humanity may have dismantled a plant 40 years old somewhere in India, overhauled and painted it and then transported it to BD for installation. I think, this can be the only explanation for the probleb.

Indians should not be trusted. Now, BHEL and its guarantor (Govt of India?) must compensate for this. Our govt should impose fine on that criminal company.

Excuse me, do you understand the word 'Commission?' This low grade BHEL plant was knocked down at the commissioning stage. What can we expect out of a poor and technologically inferior country called India!

You are the DOG. You beg and come wagging your tail to BD for business to make profit out of us. We pay money for everything we buy from India. It is buyers' market. You are educated enough to understand this small thing.

Down with India.

You have once again proved yourself to be a nut by selling an old plant to BD. Don't worry, you will not be paid unless you take the plant back to your poor dirty country and then install a new one.
