Bangladesh to launch its own satellite

Guys

I'm still not clear on few things, im somewhat ignorant on Sat's :

1. What will be this Comsat used for? ... i mean , who are the potential internal customer's?

2. Does it make more economic sense to lease (as in time sharing) with other existing Sat's ?

Thanks.

1) Mostly telecom operator, data connectivity providers, medias, news agencies, meterological department, and ofcourse the government agencies.
2) Individual customers made arrangement with different satellite service providers with their own convenience and are paying high prices for those. The market came to a level when we can have our own satellite which will be commercially viable.

iajdani - i think a satellite for Education (like India's Edusat)may be of good use ?
You can beam educational programs from good teachers to schools in remote villages.
I think a met satellite for Bangladesh can be most useful considering the cyclones etc.

Iajdani, isro is the cheapest provider of satellite launch on this goddamn planet if you didn't know!.....many western countries opted for india for that very reason and also for its successfull record.......so going by bd economy i think india would be not bad of a choice.....whats your opinion?.....and yes isro should surely bid for this project,it can also help improve indo-bd relations.

Isro earned over Rs100 crore from foreign satellite launches

Wednesday, December 2, 2009

New Delhi: Indian Space Research Organisation (Isro) earned over Rs100 crore in the last three years by launching satellites of other countries, minister of state in PMO Prithviraj Chavan told the Lok Sabha today.
The space agency launched 12 foreign satellites during the last three years, including six nano satellites at a cost of Rs101.60 crore, he said.

In reply to a separate query, Chavan said Isro also plans to launch a Naval satellite in 2010-11 which would provide communication facility to various naval vessels.

He said the Isro plans to send human beings in space and undertake planetary exploration within the next decade.

"The overall thrust of the space programme for the future is to sustain and strengthen space-based services in a self-reliant manner towards national development and develop space technology capabilities in the areas of advanced satellites," Chavan said.

The space programme also envisages enhancing capabilities in the areas of satellite communications, navigation, earth observation and human space flight in addition to pursuing research in space science, astronomy and planetary exploration, he said.

Isro's Geosynchronous Satellite Launch Vehicle (GSLV) is capable of putting into orbit a 500 kg payload to undertake a emission to Mars.

Davy .... not a bad idea.... quite a many good institutes in India and BD can offer complimentary program's to students from respective country. IIT and BIT for one have sat based study infrastructure.

As a Bangladeshi it feels good that our government is now getting a satellite to met the demands of its nation. As Bangladesh is becoming a mid developed country around 2016 and its current growth demands that it would become the first developed nation of south Asia .

It will be great that after 40 year of its liberation the country now standing in a position to make that type of growth .

Our science and technology is developed enough that out students are now doing job in NASA ,MIT ,MICROSOFT and other well reputed company around the world .there is many Bangladeshi working as professors in different university in USA and other country's as well.

Bangladeshi student even made own branded micro-cheap which has been branded to an American company .

So u can see how America is giving opportunity to the talent of the Bangladeshis. So a lot thanks to the USA .

NOW TO THE POINT-i don't think bangladesh should buy satellite from India .cz as a neighboring country there is many intelligence issue .so a third neutral country would be the best choice cz a satellite might serve the both purposes of military and communication.

Yes India is one of our best friends .but you know even friends should have some distance between their friendship otherwise everything might spoil

Borhan : Well ,, let me see if i can clarify :

1)You are supposedly not buying Indian Satellite. You are just contemplating using ISRO 's service to launch a BD satellite in orbit.
2)Satellite being proposed is more for communication.

Borhan, won't the satellite itself be built by Bangladesh and India (or whoever the launch partner) will only launch the satellite?

I guess you meant Micro- Chip.

:rofl::rofl::rofl::rofl:

hahahaha can't stop laughing over the spelling. Don't worry not trolling but just over the spelling.lol again,...:chilli::rofl::smitten:

BTW good luck Bangladesh bros. Hope you succeed in your objective. God Bless.

Why these indians are with begging bowls? This has nothing to do with ISRO or india. And Bangladesh will (if pressure tactics not used) will take its own deceision.
Here comes another gentlemen from the west in BD's wrapper . get a life !
